Happy Wednesday Cherrydale Families,

What a Wonderful Start!

We have had such a wonderful start to the school year at Cherrydale! Our hallways and classrooms are full of energy, learning, new friendships, and lots of Cheetah spirit. It was also great to capture some of those beginning-of-the-year smiles during Picture Day this past Monday! We are so excited about the year ahead and all that our students will accomplish.

A Friendly Reminder: Free & Reduced Lunch Forms

If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to complete your Free & Reduced Lunch application in Skyward as soon as possible. These forms are important not only for determining eligibility for meal benefits, but also because the information helps our school qualify for Title I funding and other resources that directly support our students.

For the past three years, Cherrydale has been able to provide the first breakfast and lunch free to all students, thanks in large part to the diligence of our families in completing these forms. We would love to keep that going! Every completed application makes a difference, so please take a moment to log into Skyward and complete your family's form if you haven't done so yet.

Thank you for helping us make this such a great start to the school year and for continuing to partner with us in supporting all of our Cherrydale students. We are looking forward to an amazing year together!

We are only a few weeks into the school year, and our Lost & Found is already filling up. Please take a moment to check for any missing coats, sweatshirts, water bottles, lunch boxes, and other belongings.

A simple way to help us return lost items to their owners is to label them with your child's first and last name.

Cherrydale recognizes the growing popularity of electric bicycles (e-bikes) as a mode of student transportation. Parents and Guardians, please talk with your child about safe riding habits and expectations before they head to school.

• Wear a helmet (required by law)
• Follow traffic rules and stay alert
• Dismount when arriving on campus
• Lock ride at designated racks on campus
• No riding on tracks, fields, or inside buildings

Calling all interested 3rd graders! Join us for a fun, after-school music experience where you’ll learn ukulele, play songs, and have a great time making music with friends. Club meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:40–4:05 PM in the Cherrydale Primary Music Room.

Applications are due Wednesday, September 23! Rehearsals begin September 29 and/or October 1. Performance dates are TBD.

You Strengthen Our Community - Join the PTA

Cherrydale is proud to provide free breakfast and lunch to ALL of our students. To continue receiving this important support, we need everyone's help. Please take a few minutes to complete a Free & Reduced Meal Application. Every application matters and helps our school maintain this valuable program for our students and families.

The Instructional Materials Committee is responsible for guiding the curriculum review and adoption process and makes recommendations to the superintendent and school board regarding instructional materials and course modification and approval. The committee also reviews course design and core instructional materials to ensure their ongoing alignment with state law, teaching and learning standards, and research-based best practices.

The Steilacoom Historical School District currently has two openings for community representatives on the Instructional Materials Committee. Community representatives are appointed by the Superintendent or designee and serve a three year term.

Applications must be submitted no later than Friday, September 25, 2026.
