Imagination Day Fun

ECE

We want to extend a huge thank you to all the parents and children who voted in our class pumpkin contest and Imagination Day festivities! It was so fun to see how creative our children were in designing and decorating their pumpkins. Let’s congratulate the winners for each category! Your excitement and enthusiasm truly brought joy to everyone. We loved seeing all the great costumes during the parade. Our bubble and dance party was a blast, and we're so grateful for everyone who joined in the fun. Thank you for making this Imagination Day a memorable one! Please enjoy the video of the ECE Campus Imagination Day Parade.

All of the students did such an amazing job on their pumpkins. The competition was fierce! We are so proud of all of you. Here are the results of the competition:

Early Childhood Education (ECE) Early Childhood Education (ECE)

One of our TK class's exploration of mung beans sparked curiosity about the world of seeds and planting. As they watched their tiny seeds sprout and grow, a sense of wonder and excitement filled the classroom. Inspired by this firsthand experience, the children eagerly anticipated the opportunity to plant their own seeds in the newly installed planter beds in front of school. The prospect of nurturing life from a simple seed, both out front and on the playground, filled them with joy and anticipation. They had a discussion about what types of plants would grow in the Fall and Winter, which led them to choose to plant both tulips and carrots. We can’t wait to see our seeds and bulbs begin to sprout!

Our kindergarten students recently delved into the topic of Community Influence and Responsibility, focusing on the vital role of community helpers. We welcomed guest speakers Bruce and Sigi, dedicated volunteers at a local wildlife center, who shared their experiences caring for wild animals in our community. Through Bruce’s engaging stories and insights, our students gained a deeper understanding of how individuals can make a meaningful difference. The visit inspired them to reflect on how they, too, can contribute positively to the world around them.

We were thrilled to welcome our Middle School Math teacher, Ms. Punjabi, into the 1st-grade classroom to share about the Diwali festival! Ms. Punjabi introduced our young learners to the vibrant traditions, stories, and cultural significance of Diwali, the Festival of Lights, which celebrates the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. Students enjoyed hearing about how families prepare, decorate, and celebrate, and they were inspired by the colorful customs and joyful spirit of this special holiday. It was a wonderful way to expand their understanding of global cultures right in the classroom!

Middle School (5th-7th Grade) Middle School (5th-7th Grade)

Our 5th graders took the lead in a recent assembly, sharing valuable insights on the theme of self-control. Through relatable stories and examples, they helped younger students understand the importance of making thoughtful choices and how self-control can positively impact their everyday lives. The assembly encouraged everyone to think about ways they can practice patience, make wise decisions, and benefit from the rewards of self-discipline, setting a positive tone for our school community.

Our House System is back this year! To kick things off, our Middle School students organized the first house gathering, bringing everyone together for lunch, games, and a chance to socialize in a fun and engaging way. In the photo, you can see one of our Middle School students, leading the game "Night at the Museum," where lion house members got to know each other through teamwork and laughter.

Yew Chung Art & Language Program (YALP) Yew Chung Art & Language Program (YALP)

At YALP, everyday is an adventure, inspiring students to grow in exciting new ways!

Our kindergarten and first graders are brimming with scientific curiosity. They experimented with Coke volcanoes, while Ailin mixed ingredients for a new witch’s brew recipe. Wang Laoshi guided students to craft Mars models using balloons and recycled paper while learning about the planet’s surface. They even created a giant leaf, tracing its veins to study its structure.

Our upper-grade students are encouraged to embrace and unleash their creativity. Every day, the grade 2/3 teacher presents a wide variety of materials and encourages her students to design their own theme-based art projects, building everything from models to mixed-media pieces. Our fourth and fifth graders gathered sticks and branches to construct bird homes and miniature habitats, developing skills in design and engineering.

At YALP, students are excited to take on new challenges and empowered to think boldly while exploring their passions! It's amazing to watch their talents come to life.
