Notes for All Families Notes for All Families

Parking Lot Safety

Parking lot safety is a point of emphasis as we start the new school year. We clarified expectations for students about parking lot safety this week, and we would like to share with parents as well so that you can help model safe behavior for all of our learners. This includes:

  • Using the crosswalk to safely move between the school and parking lot.
  • Students should only enter cars in the pickup lane in the portion of that lane that runs parallel to the south side of the school.
  • Students should only enter cars in the pickup lane from the passenger side of the vehicle. Entering from the driver's side is unsafe since cars will be driving by in the drive-thru lane.
  • Students should walk calmly in all spaces outside.
  • Parents should drive slowly in the parking lot.

We know that you are excited to see your students at the end of the day, but we will follow these expectations to promote safety for all, and this helps to create a faster pickup experience for all.

Timely Student Pick-ups

Please be ready to pick up your student(s) at 4:00pm each Monday or Friday. Our staff are only on contract until 4:15pm, so your timely arrival to pick up students is very appreciated by our staff and allows them to return home to their families on time.

Tip of the week:

🌟 Look Beyond the Behavior!🌟

💬 Behavior is communication!
When your child is having a tough moment, they may be trying to tell you something.

🧘 Your calm can help create their calm.
Take a breath, slow down, and connect before you correct.

🏡 Little Changes = BIG Difference!

  • ⏰ Give a heads-up: “5 more minutes, then it’s time to clean up!”

  • 🎯 Keep directions simple

  • ⭐ Notice the good: “I love how you got started right away!”

  • 🧩 Offer choices: “Do you want the blue pen or pencil for this sheet?”

  • 💕 Build in connection: A quick cuddle, high-five, or 5 minutes of special play can go a long way.

  • 🌈 Create predictable routines: Knowing what comes next can help children feel safe and prepared.

  • 🧘 Make space for calm: Create a cozy spot where your child can take a break and reset.
