Mustang News: November 7, 2025
From the Principal's Desk
It’s been another great week at GMS! Congratulations to both our 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams on their big wins this week. The effort and teamwork, they’ve shown on the court are something to be proud of. Way to represent GMS!
A huge thank you as well to all of our student helpers who have been working hard in the concession stand during breaks and at home basketball games. Your energy and commitment make game days run smoothly and create such a positive atmosphere for our fans and families.
Thank you all for your support at Parent/Teacher conferences these past two weeks. We can't tell you how much it means to us that you take the time from your busy schedules to check-in on student progress! Also, a HUGE thank you to the PTA for the amazing meal that they provided for our teachers!

Our GMS Mustang community is focused on the value/practice of "I build positive relationships" during the month of November. One of the most important parts of having a great school experience is building positive relationships, with friends, classmates, and teachers. Positive relationships help us feel included, supported, and understood. They also make school a place where we want to be, learn, and grow. So, what exactly is a positive relationship? It’s a connection where people treat each other with kindness, listen to one another, and work together. It doesn’t mean you have to be best friends with everyone, but it does mean showing respect and empathy.
Here are some ways to build strong, positive relationships every day:
1. Practice Kindness
Small actions can mean a lot! Saying “good morning,” holding the door, or helping someone pick up dropped papers shows others you care. Kindness is contagious—one small gesture can inspire many more. Plus, World Kindness Day is coming up on November 13th, so this is a great time to focus on kindness!
2. Listen Actively
When someone is speaking, show that you’re paying attention. Make eye contact, nod, and ask questions. Listening shows that you value what the other person has to say.
3. Use Encouraging Words
Compliments and supportive comments help others feel confident and appreciated. Try saying things like, “Great job on that project!” or “I like how you worked through that problem.”
4. Resolve Conflicts Respectfully
Disagreements happen—what matters is how we handle them. Take a moment to calm down, explain your perspective using “I” statements, and try to understand the other person’s point of view. Finding a solution together strengthens trust.
5. Be Yourself
The best relationships grow when people are honest and true to who they are. You don’t have to pretend to fit in. When you show your real interests and personality, you attract friends who appreciate you for you.
Positive relationships make our GMS school family stronger and happier. When we support one another, we all succeed. Every day is an opportunity to be kind, to listen, and to lift someone up. Let’s keep building a school environment where everyone feels welcome! Go, Mustangs!
