Message From the Principal
Dear Wildwood Families,
As you have all heard, our core values at Wildwood are embodied in the Wildwood Way. Every day, we encourage students to be respectful, responsible, inclusive, and problem solvers. These values guide us in creating a positive, supportive, and thriving environment for everyone in our school community.
This week, I want to highlight the value of Inclusiveness. At Wildwood, being inclusive means providing everyone an opportunity to have a meaningful voice and the ability to participate in the design of our school’s culture. It’s about welcoming new friends, listening to diverse perspectives, and ensuring that everyone feels valued and heard. Inclusiveness is recognizing that our differences make us stronger and that each individual has something unique to contribute to our community. At school, we practice inclusiveness by working together, sharing ideas, and ensuring every student feels safe, respected, and part of the community.
September 15th marked the beginning of Latine Heritage Month and September is National Deaf Awareness Month. Every Monday, I make a schoolwide announcement. From September 15th through October 15th, I am highlighting the words of members of the Latine community and sharing those to help inspire students as we strive to embody the Wildwood Way each day. Last week, at our monthly Community Meeting, Ms. Ludmer taught our students sign language to accompany a piece of the Wildwood Way song. And, in the coming months, she will continue to teach more sign language to go with more pieces of our school song. Throughout the year, we will continue to highlight the contributions of diverse members of our country and community in all aspects of our work.
I fully believe that we are all better served when we work together and strive to understand and value each other. That means valuing each other for exactly who we are and the totality of who we are. Know that I value and celebrate each of your children for exactly who they each are every single day. Our community is stronger and better off when we fully see and respect each other.
In unity and partnership,
Amy Fry

Specifically, the ask is to: 1) don an orange vest and motion to drivers to pull forward as far as possible, and 2) open the car door to help escort the students into school.
Lending your helping hand at morning drop-off will go a long way toward keeping traffic run smoothly and pleasantly. It’s a great way to start the school day!

We invite you to participate with your child’s PE class to experience how they are learning to lead physically active and healthy lives.
Class times are listed on the RSVP form which you can fill out here.
Hope to see you there!
What is Family PE Week?
Family PE Week is an event designed to give parents and guardians an opportunity to experience the same physical education program their child participates in at school.
What to expect: This is a “learn by doing” event, so expect to run, jump, have fun, play, and LEARN while participating as a member of your child’s PE class! If participation is not possible, you are welcome to come and observe.
What to wear: Wear comfy clothing, sneakers, and don’t forget to bring a water bottle!
When to come: Meet us on the yard at the time indicated on the RSVP form. Please arrive 5 minutes early and sign in at the front office before coming down to the lower yard. This is a security protocol to keep everyone safe on campus.
Where to go: First sign in at the main office, and then come down and join us on the big, lower yard at Wildwood.
If it rains: We have contingencies for rain and will hold classes indoors if needed.
Can siblings come? Sorry, we are not able to accommodate siblings for this event.

Thursday October 23 3-4:30 PM
Friday October 24 3-4:30 PM
1. Sign up to Volunteer! We need help setting up the actual fair, operating the register during book fair hours, and packing up at the end. We rely heavily on volunteers to make this happen, so please sign up if you can! Sign up here.
2. Remember our teachers: At the fair, there will be each teacher’s wish list set out. While you’re at the fair picking out books for your child, please purchase a book from your teacher’s wish list! There will be labeled teachers’ bins to place the paid books inside.
3. eWallet: If you’d like to not worry about cash or credit cards at the fair, a great option is to set up an e- wallet online. You simply add funds and/or invite family to contribute. Grandparents love to donate towards books! This is a great option if you want your child to stop by the fair on their own after school. At the time of checkout, the eWallet account can be looked up on the register and used towards one’s purchase. Set it up through the book fair webpage.
4. Catch a "read aloud" with Ms. Ludmer on Wednesday 10/22 at 6:30 pm! Our Head Librarian, Ms. Ludmer, will be reading a lively piece for all to enjoy. The reading will most likely be outside in the courtyard so please dress accordingly! Cookies and milk will be passed around!
Stay updated through the Book Fair webpage.

For your convenience, WPC will print a monthly roundup of scheduled activities and post it on the bulletin board just inside the school entrance. This is in addition to the information that you will continue to find in your weekly room-parent emails and the Whatnot.
Thanks to joint funding by WPC and Dads’ Club, four water-bottle fillers will be installed throughout campus in the coming weeks! These were on the school’s capital improvement wishlist; many thanks to PUSD for partnering with both parent groups for seeing it through.

Happy Filipino Heritage Month! In October we honor the history, culture, and contributions of Filipino Americans in the United States. Filipino folks started landing in the continental U.S. on October 18, 1587, primarily as enslaved peoples, prisoners and ship crew. Celebrating this rich culture and legacy in October, and throughout the year, helps to remind our entire community to recognize and honor the gifts that generations of Filipino Americans continue to share. Whether you cook a delicious chicken adobo for dinner one night, visit the latest showcase of Filipino culture at the Oakland Museum of California this month or learn more about events happening in and around the Bay Area in October, how might you choose to celebrate this month with your friends and neighbors?
