Halloween Information Halloween Information

Friday, October 30 | Parade begins at 1:45 p.m.

Weโ€™re excited to celebrate Halloween with our Panthers! Students should bring their costumes to school (or wear under their clothes) and will change beginning at 1:30 p.m.

๐Ÿ‘ป Costume Guidelines

Please help us keep costumes fun, safe, and school appropriate:

  • No blood, gore, violent themes, or weapons (including toy/plastic weapons).

  • Costumes should be culturally respectful.

  • Students should be able to see clearly and move safely in their costumes.

  • Students should be able to put on costumes independently. (Kโ€“1 students may receive some adult help from school staff.)

  • Please save makeup, hair dye, and elaborate costume details for evening activities.

  • Adults attending in costume should also choose school-appropriate and culturally respectful costumes.

๐Ÿพ Families Are Invited!
1:45 p.m. โ€“ Parade begins! Families may watch from the blacktop on the east side of the school.
After the parade โ€“ Join your child in their classroom for the celebration! All visitors check in at the main entrance

๐ŸŒง๏ธ Bad weather? The parade will move indoors to the gym.

๐Ÿ‚ Prefer a Fall Celebration?

We understand that not every family celebrates Halloween. Students may participate in a fall-themed alternative activity during the parade and party. Please let your childโ€™s teacher know if you would like your child to participate.

Thank you for helping us make this a fun, safe, and inclusive afternoon for all!

Neighborhood Parking & Traffic Guidelines Neighborhood Parking & Traffic Guidelines

When parking on neighborhood streets near the school, please keep the following courteous habits and local traffic rules in mind:

  • Keep Driveways Clear: Ensure nearby residents have full clearance to enter and exit their driveways safely. Avoid parking directly across from or too close to residential driveways.

  • Protect Mailbox Access: Leave adequate space in front of mailboxes so postal carriers can deliver mail without obstruction.

  • Observe Fire Hydrant Clearances: Keep a clear distance around all fire hydrants so emergency services have immediate access if needed.

  • Respect Crosswalks & Intersections: Do not park within marked crosswalks or too close to street corners. Keeping lines of sight clear helps keep students and families safe.

  • Keep Sidewalks Unblocked: Park flush with the curb so vehicles do not block sidewalks, leaving pathways open for strollers, wheelchairs, and pedestrians.

Demonstrating consideration for our surrounding neighborhood models the values of respect and responsibility we emphasize with our students every day. Thank you for your partnership in helping us maintain positive relationships with our neighbors and keep arrival and dismissal safe for everyone.

Veterans Day at South Lakewood ๐ŸŽถ ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฒ

South Lakewood Elementary invites all Veterans & current members of the

Armed Forces to join us as our honored guests for our annual Veteranโ€™s Day Assembly

presented by our 3rd grade students on Wednesday November 11th, 1:30 p.m.

Honored guests will be seated in a special area and are encouraged to wear hats, badges, and/or uniforms to commemorate their branch of service. Other guests are welcome to attend; however, please note that due to our growing student body, space is very limited and standing for the duration of the program may be required.

Special photo request:

A large part of our presentation each year is a slideshow that contains photos of Veterans (we also love to include current active-duty military - as well as family who may have served in any military across the world) that have connections to South Lakewood. If you would like to share any photos to be included - please email them to Mrs. Short by NO LATER than Friday November 6th at: ashley.cervenkashort@jeffco.k12.co.us Be sure to include service member's name, branch of service, and student(s) at SLE that they are connected to and how (Example: Michael Champan, Army, father of Mrs. Short) *Please limit your photos to one per servicemember **If you have provided photos in past years, you do not need to resend.
