West Side Elementary
October Newsletter
Dear West Side families,
I just looked back at the October newsletter from last year, and I was a bit of a Negative Nellie talking about how Fall was just a doorway to winter. Well, I have grown up over these past 365 days, and I have to say I am looking forward to Fall this year ... mostly because I am sick of mowing my lawn. Seriously, that is an extra 2 hours per week I will have to spend any way I wish instead of sweating, getting bitten by mosquitos or stung by wasps, and staining my shoes green from all the grass stains. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I'm looking forward to winter ... a little bit anyway.
As far as school goes, October is a pretty eventful month for West Siders. We have our School Safety Week the week of October 6: our kids practice how to move through a smokey interior, shoot water through a fire hose, and try out some safety gear from our local law enforcement. Second, we have parent-teacher conferences coming up on October 13, 14, and 15: we love the face-to-face interactions with all of our West Side family members! We have picture retakes on October 21 just in case we were absent or didn't smile our best smile. Finally, the PTO Monster Mash is Saturday, October 25th, from 2:00-4:00 PM at the middle school.
October is sure to be a great transition to 2nd Quarter and a fun passage from the summer sun to falling leaves and crisp temperatures. See you all at P/T conferences in a couple of weeks!
