TELPAS Testing for Emergent Bilingual Students (Grades 2–5)
Our Emergent Bilingual (EB) students in grades 2–5 will participate in the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS assessment) on Wednesday, February 25th and Thursday, February 26th. TELPAS is a state assessment that measures students’ progress in learning academic English and is taken just as seriously as STAAR and NWEA. TELPAS results are also a critical component of Parker’s accountability rating with the Texas Education Agency (TEA), as they reflect the growth and achievement of our Emergent Bilingual students.
To ensure a focused and secure testing environment, Parker will operate on a closed campus on both testing days.
It is essential that students arrive at school on time, well rested, and after eating a healthy breakfast, as this helps them perform at their very best. We also encourage families to speak with their child about the importance of putting forth their best effort and taking the assessment seriously, as TELPAS results help guide instructional support and ensure students continue to grow and thrive academically.
If you are unsure whether your child will participate in TELPAS, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher for confirmation.
🦁🦁Congratulations to our February Lions of the Month! 🥳🥳
Students will hear their name LOUD AND PROUD in Monday's morning announcements. They don't know they've won yet, so please keep it a secret until then!
If you are the proud parent of one of these students, you are invited to join us in the office to hear the morning announcements at 7:30!
After announcements, your child will receive a goody bag and Lions of the Month t-shirt (designed by two of our very own students!). Please send your child to school on Tuesday, the 24th in this shirt. IF YOUR CHILD HAS EVER WON LIONS OF THE MONTH, PLEASE SEND THEM TO SCHOOL TUESDAY IN THEIR SHIRT! We are all going to wear them to honor this month’s winners!
Congratulations, students and parents!
For the whole month, your child's poster will be featured on our bulletin board. At the end of the month, I will send it home, so you can show it off to everyone! This is a HUGE accomplishment for your child!
HISD All City Guitar Festival at Bellaire HS
Parker Advanced Guitars were the only elementary group to participate in the HISD All City Guitar Festival at Bellaire High School this weekend. They showed their skills as an ensemble and played with middle school groups in the Challenge ensemble.
Harold T. and Eleanor L. also represented us well as soloists!

TITLE I MEETING - Feb. 27th
February is Kindness Month.
The month of February let’s continue practicing kindness together in school, as a family and in our community.
Week 4- Keep Being Kind
Watch our fourth and last 4-part miniseries video about Kindness.
The more we practice kindness and emotional awareness, the more emotionally intelligent we become.
Two-Word Check-In- Use this daily to stay connected to your feelings in the moment.
Name It to Tame It-
Take a deep breath. Settle in. Think about a challenging moment. Ask: How did I feel then?
Take another deep breath and notice: How do I feel now that I can name it?
Kindness begins within and spreads outward. When we can name our feelings, we can manage them better.
Emotionally intelligent children and adults are more confident, resilient, and capable of building strong relationships and making wise choices.
This work takes time and intention- together we are raising emotionally intelligent human beings who thrive at home, at school and in our community.
Keep practicing these tools at home through everyday moments and enjoy the process!
