A Message from Dr. Sanchez A Message from Dr. Sanchez

Dear PMSA Community,

We had a busy and exciting week at PMSA as we celebrated academic excellence by inducting students into the National Honor Society. We also hosted our Future Freshmen Parent Information Night, where we had the pleasure of welcoming our incoming class of 9th grade students and their families. As we look forward to the months ahead, we are proud of the strong sense of achievement and community that continues to define PMSA.

As we move to February, we recognize Black History Month, a time to honor the history, culture, and lasting contributions of Black leaders, scholars, artists, and change makers who have shaped our nation and continue to inspire future generations.

At PMSA, we believe it is important not only to recognize Black history, but also to uplift and celebrate Black Excellence. This month provides meaningful opportunities for reflection, learning, and dialogue as we strengthen our commitment to equity, inclusion, and respect for all.

With current divisive pressures across our society, it is more important than ever that we honor culture and unity within our school community. At PMSA, we remain committed to being a place where students are Driven by Excellence and Grounded in Kindness.

As part of our celebration, PMSA will host a Black History and Black Excellence Assembly. This assembly will highlight voices, stories, and accomplishments that reflect resilience, leadership, and pride.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to ensure PMSA remains a community where every student feels seen, valued, and empowered to succeed.

Warm regards,

-Dr. Sanchez

Cordialmente,

Dra. Sánchez

Our Anatomy students got hands-on today as they practiced using dissection tools on pickles and grapes, building the skills they’ll need for future labs. Later this week, they’ll explore earthworm dissections, and next week they’ll move on to more advanced specimens, including raw chicken wings and feet. These activities give students a safe, guided way to learn about anatomy, tissue structure, and lab techniques, one step at a time!

Student Recognition/Reconocimiento Estudiantil Student Recognition/Reconocimiento Estudiantil

At PMSA, we center student recognition as a key part of our school culture. To celebrate the achievements and contributions of our students and staff, we have established a Students of the Month program.

Each month, one department is responsible for selecting one student per grade to receive the award based on academic merit, as outlined by each department. In addition, we recognize a Student Python of the Month and a Faculty Python of the Month. These awards are presented to students and staff who embody our school motto: “Driven by Excellence, Grounded in Kindness.” Award recipients are recognized at our monthly board meetings.

For the month of January, the Social Studies department is proud to recognize the following students:

  • Freshman: Dashon Brown and Adrian Carrera-Quinonez

  • Sophomore: Samantha Skerrett

  • Junior: Christian Babon

  • Senior: Makie Jackson

Our Student Python of the Month is Emmanuel Arreola, a senior who contributes to the PMSA school community through acts of service and is a part of our IB Cohort.

Congratulations to Ms. Parker, PMSA’s Staff Member of the Month! As our dedicated Driver’s Education Coordinator, she works tirelessly behind the wheel to help students gain confidence and become safe, responsible drivers. Her patience, guidance, and commitment make every driving lesson a meaningful learning experience. Thank you, Ms. Parker, for steering our students toward success!

  • Primer año: Dashon Brown y Adrian Carrera-Quinonez
