The Weekly Update #4
August 22nd, 2025
Week of September 15
Parents and Students, what a fantastic week we’ve had at SLA!
Our students, teachers, and administrators are working hard together to stay focused on our goals and keep the momentum going. This past week, our SSS, Ms. Ward, sent home students’ beginning-of-the-year MAP scores. Please take a moment to review these with your child—celebrate what went well and talk through ways they can grow for next time. Encouragement makes a big difference!
Mark your calendars—Open House is Tuesday, September 16th! This is a great opportunity to see what your child has been up to in the classroom and to sit in on our Campus Title I Meeting, where we’ll share different ways parents can get involved. We’ll also have tables set up for you to:
-
Stop by the Library Media Specialist’s table to sign up and follow us on social media
-
Ask questions about Aeries with Mrs. Robledo.
- Learn more about Assessment and Curriculum with Ms. Ward.
- Follow your child's schedule and see the learning that has been happening in these hallways!
- And of course, don’t forget to say hello to Principal Suckie while you’re here!
Be sure to also read through the information below for important updates, including next week’s Spirit Week details, SMART Tag reminders, a note from our nurse, and football and volleyball schedules.
📣 Important Notice for SLA Parents & Guardians
In compliance with Texas Senate Bill 12, we are required to obtain your written consent for your child to receive campus-based, routine health-related services during the 2025–2026 school year.
It is imperative that you complete this form to either opt in or opt out before students return on Tuesday, September 2nd. This will ensure there is no confusion about whether or not your child may be seen by the school nurse or counselors.
👉 If you want to make sure your child can be seen by the nurse or counselor, you must provide consent using the form.

Thank you for your immediate attention to this matter and for helping us keep our Knights safe and supported!
SMART Tag Badges Required Starting September 22
Beginning Monday, September 22, 2025, all students must use their SMART Tag ID badge when getting on and off the school bus. These badges do more than just track ridership—they keep students safe, help buses stay on schedule, and make transportation run smoothly.
Why SMART Tag Badges Matter:
-
Safety: Tracks when and where students get on and off.
-
Records: Keeps families and staff updated with bus details.
-
Time-Saving: Makes loading/unloading faster.
-
Consistency: Ensures everyone follows district policy.
If your student does not yet have a badge, please make sure they receive one this week. If a badge is forgotten, the campus can provide a daily temporary pass (completed by an administrator). Lost or damaged badges will need to be replaced.
Finding Bus Information:
Families can access student bus routes and updates through:
-
My Ride Campus Portal (for General Education routes)
-
Aries Transportation Query (for detailed bus lists)
-
SMART Tag Campus Portal (to view routes, stops, scan logs, and badge status)
For SPED, Choice, or MKV routes, please use the designated Google Forms or contact your campus for support.
Thank you for helping us keep our buses safe, efficient, and on time!
September 10th is Suicide Prevention Day. Every life matters, and no one should face their struggles alone. Reach out, listen, and support one another—together, we can make a difference. #SuicidePrevention #YouAreNotAlone
September is National #AttendanceAwarenessMonth! Being present on time and ready to learn builds strong routines that are the foundation for student success. Missing two days a month totals 10% of the school year, which is considered chronic absenteeism. Consistent attendance: Boosts academic performance and grade-level proficiency. Let's make every day count!
#CelebremosSpring Spring ISD is excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month! From our emergent bilingual programs to our traditional Hispanic performing arts to Spanish-immersive curriculum, Spring ISD aims to highlight, preserve, and celebrate the district’s Hispanic heritage every single day.
