Lancer Community Connection
September 15, 2025
A Message from Principal Peguero
Hello Lancer Families,
We are excited to welcome our TK–8th grade families to campus this Wednesday, September 17th at 5:30 p.m. in the school gym. This is a special time to meet your child’s teacher, step into the spaces where they learn each day, and hear more about the academic goals and priorities we’ve set for the year. Along with this, we invite you to enjoy ASB’s Taco Night and connect with our community partners who are here in support of our students’ well-being.
Please also take a moment to open the Parent Partnership Place document, which highlights upcoming dates and events we are preparing for. In addition, our Coffee Chat will be hosted both via Zoom and in person, and later this week we will gather for the English Language Advisory Committee. These gatherings offer invaluable opportunities to connect, share feedback, and collaborate on the important initiatives we will move forward together this year. Your voice matters, and in these spaces, we truly grow in unison.
We are also sharing the picture day schedule below to help you prepare your children for their time slot.
One final reminder: at the request of the Fire Chief, please keep all turnaround driveways clear for emergency vehicles. To support this, parking in the upper turnaround is not permitted during morning drop-off. TK and Kindergarten dismissal will now take place at 2:00 p.m. at the lower turnaround, and you’ll notice posted signage and staff presence to help with traffic flow.
Here’s to a joyful and successful week ahead!
Warmly,
Emma Peguero

Gracias,
Emma Peguero, Directora de Avalon Tk-12

Electronic Device Restrictions
Avalon's Implementation
Thank you for your response and support as we help our students adjust to this new policy. Continue speaking to your student about the issue and again thank you for support.
Electronic Device Restriction
At Avalon TK-12, we are committed to upholding our upcoming restrictions on personal devices in order to protect instructional time and prioritize our students’ well-being and focus. Beginning this school year, cell phones will not be permitted during the school day and instructional time. If a cell phone is seen or used, it will be treated as a prohibited device, and parents or guardians will be contacted to retrieve it from the school.
We recognize that cell phones are intentionally designed to be addictive, and we understand that this adjustment may be challenging for some students. Your partnership is crucial to our success in maintaining a positive learning environment. We encourage you to speak with your children about these changes and help them prepare for this transition.

School Fundraising
Rules and Regulations for Fundraising
School Fundraising
So you want to fundraise for a group on campus? That’s fantastic! However, there are some rules, procedures, and timelines that must be followed in order to be able to continue to fundraise and for your group to be successful and be in compliance legally. Please contact the activities person (Melinda) or the financial clerk (Kat) if you have any questions. The link below will take you to a video (English or Spanish) on how fundraising must be conducted going forward.
IMPORTANT RULES TO FOLLOW FOR FUNDRAISING
There are a lot of rules and regulations regarding fundraising for a public school. The major ones are listed below.
If the school’s name and/or school club or group name is utilized in fundraising, then it is a school fundraiser.
The state legislature passed Business and Professional Code 17510 to 17510.95 to safeguard the public against fraud and deceit, to foster fair and encourage fair solicitations, and to provide for transparency.
California Education Code section 48932 (K-12) authorizes student body organizations (Associated Student Body Student Council) to be responsible for and conduct fundraising activities.
All fundraising activities must adhere to the guidelines established by the the ASB Constitution and Bylaws and in accordance with the Board of Education Rules and Regulations along with the State of California Department of Education Rules and Regulations.
Before approving any events, ASB must consider many issues including
Student safety
Current laws and regulations
Appropriateness of the fundraiser
Schedule conflicts
The following activities are NOT allowed under any circumstances:
Raffles and games of chance
Dunk tanks
Bounce houses
Mechanical or animal rides
Trampolines or mini-trampolines
Use of darts, arrows, or other weapons
Destruction of cars or similar objects with hammers
Objects thrown at people without protection for the person
All monies collected from any form of fundraising activity must be deposited through the Student Body Finance office immediately at the end of the event.
All expenses must be paid for by check or petty cash through the financial clerk and never directly from the proceeds of any fundraiser.
Original supporting invoices and receipts are required for all expenditures.
We cannot accept or use Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, or any other cash app transfer service.
Accepting checks is highly discouraged.
Non-student organizations (PTO, for example) are not to solicit funds on behalf of a school or its students without prior written approval from the governing body for each individual fundraising event.
