Reminders for Cars in the Lower Lot

  • Car drop offs and pick ups should occur in the lower lot in the morning and afternoon.

  • Please pull all the way forward so we can unload or load as many students at one time as possible, it really does make it go faster.

  • Please remain in your vehicle, although we understand that some younger students still need help with seatbelts, if possible, please work with your child to be able to buckle their own seat belt.

  • Please remember that student safety is our priority. Please do not park in the lot and ask your child to come to you or pass other vehicles in line.

  • Please be patient, we're all working hard to make these times run smoothly.

Smart Snacks

In compliance with the Federal Child Nutrition Act, the RNESU Wellness Policy states:

“...foods provided, but not sold to students during the school day, may include food that is part of a classroom celebration or provided by parents or community organizations free of charge. Food provided but not sold will, at a minimum, comply with the Smart Snacks Standards.”

When supplying food for celebrations at school, please keep this in mind.

Mrs. Roy, Physical Education

My name is Nicole Roy and I love teaching PE and helping students to become active and healthy people. This year we will be fully implementing the new PE standards. Besides developing motor skills and fitness knowledge there is also a focus on character and social skills as well as goal setting and reflection on the benefits of physical activity and finding what types of activities they enjoy. We will be working both inside and outside depending on facility and equipment needs as well as our crazy Vermont weather. For students to be prepared for class I ask that everyone bring a water bottle, this will make it so long lines at the water fountain don’t take up too much activity time. Also in order to participate in the activities students have to be wearing sneakers that support their feet. I do have some extras that students can borrow for the days that they forget. Clothing that is easy to move in is also important for the days that your students have PE. I also suggest students wear layers as it does get warm in the gym year round. I am looking forward to this next year of PE with all of our students.

Mrs. Bruce, Music

My name is Carolyn Bruce, and I have been teaching music at Lothrop for 10 years. I love my job and my students! My goal for each student is to develop a lifelong love and passion for music. In music class, I strive for all students to be tuneful, beatful and artful. We sing, dance, make music with instruments and play games. Students in grade 4, 5 and 6 have the option to learn instruments at Lothrop and students in grades 3-6 have the option to join chorus. I am looking forward to a great year of music!

Mr. Matt, Art

I’m Mr. Matt, your art teacher! I have loved art ever since I was in elementary school. I always drew whenever I got the chance, and decided to study drawing, painting and teaching when I went to college. I spent a lot of time studying comics. I value fun, creativity and learning! There are so many different ways to engage in art that we are sure to find a way that works for you. We'll have fun along the way as we are learning about different artists, art techniques and about each other.
