We are very proud of each of these students and are happy to recognize them. Each student's recognition is well deserved.
Kindergarten: Layah Flores
This Student lights up our classroom with her big heart, helping hands, and joyful spirit! She is always the first to share a smile, lend a hand, and cheer on her friends. Not only is she a kind and caring classmate, but she also shows a sparkling eagerness to learn and grow every single day.
Whether she is trying something new, asking thoughtful questions, or practicing with pride, her determination shines just as bright as her smile! We’re so proud of the awesome friend and growing learner you are! Way to go, Layah Flores – Keep being amazing!
First Grade: Rhett Bond
I happily name Rhett Bond as our Student of the Month for May! Rhett has truly earned this recognition through his unique personality, hard work, and infectious spirit. He is the most excited person for our Monday morning group time to tell us all about his wild tales from the “wild west,” that usually involve a wreck of some sort. He always leaves us laughing and eager to hear more. Rhett is our class storyteller, and his enthusiasm and humor bring so much joy to our classroom. It’s not just his storytelling that makes Rhett special—He is also a respectful, kind-hearted, and excited about life (and candy) kid, who shows up everyday with a smile on his face. You just can’t help but smile when you see Rhett coming your way. Even when the work is tough, Rhett doesn’t give up. He pushes through with a determined attitude, always trying his best. One area that he does love, other than pizza, is math!—He is a true math whiz! His quick thinking and sharp number sense often have him solving problems faster than even I can. His love for learning, especially in math, is inspiring to all of us. This honor is something that Rhett has been patiently waiting and hoping for all year and I am excited to finally say, Congratulations Rhett on student of the month for MAY.
Second Grade: Jose Cesarez
This month, we are excited to nominate Jose as Student of the Month. He may be quiet, but his actions speak volumes about the kind of person he is. Jose comes to school every day with determination and a positive attitude, always ready to learn and do his best. His kind heart shines through in everything he does, as he is often the first to offer a helping hand to others. Jose is honest, respectful, and a great friend to all. His quiet strength, combined with his unwavering commitment to kindness and positivity, makes him a wonderful example for his peers. Our second grade class is proud to recognize Jose for his dedication, generosity, and his constant effort to be his very best.
Third Grade: Owen Grasmick
There is a boy who stands out not for his loud voice or flashy talents, but for his quiet kindness and unwavering sense of fairness. Whenever someone is left on the sidelines—during games, group work, or lunchtime conversations—he is the first to notice and act. With a calm and thoughtful demeanor, he finds ways to include others, pairing up with the person who has no partner, or suggesting a game everyone can play. He often solves problems with empathy and insight. He doesn’t seek attention, but his actions speak volumes, making those around him feel seen, valued, and never alone. His presence is a reminder that kindness and problem-solving go hand in hand, and that one person’s effort can truly make a difference. Congratulations Owen Grasmick!
Fourth Grade: Nicholas Hernandez
Nicholas Hernandez is an extraordinary young person who quietly inspires everyone around him. His teachers unanimously agree that he represents the very best of what a good citizen can be. What makes Nicholas truly special isn't his pursuit of recognition, but his genuine compassion for others. In every classroom, Nicholas brings a unique blend of respect and kindness. He never seeks the spotlight. His classmates appreciate his friendly demeanor and his ability to make challenging academic tasks feel approachable with his warm sense of humor. Multiple teachers have noted Nicholas' consistent respect - not just for adults, but for his fellow students. He listens actively, offers help without being asked, and maintains a positive attitude even when academic challenges arise. Nicholas’ work ethic is remarkable; he tackles complex problems with patience and determination, always willing to learn from his mistakes. What truly sets Nicholas apart from his peers is understanding that respect is about more than kindness. He demonstrates emotional intelligence, empathy, and a genuine desire to contribute positively to his school community. Nicholas’ kindness isn't performative; it's a natural extension of his character. Nicholas leads by example, showing that true excellence isn't about standing out, but about lifting others up. He is, in every sense, a role model who doesn't realize how inspirational he truly is.
Fifth Grade: Briar Mauch
Briar exemplifies the highest standards of Student of the Month through her consistent demonstration of compassion, leadership, and community involvement. What truly sets her apart is her unwavering commitment to making a positive difference both inside and outside the classroom. Unlike many students, Briar goes above and beyond to support fellow students, engage in meaningful community involvement, and promote a culture of respect and inclusivity. Throughout her time at Wiley, Briar has shown remarkable leadership skills and a genuine desire to improve our school environment. She has been instrumental in helping peers with questions on classwork, including peers in the activity she is doing so they are not alone, or further explaining things to peers so they can have a better understanding. Her exceptional character, combined with her dedication to community involvement and personal growth, makes Briar an outstanding candidate for Student of the Month. She truly embodies the values of responsible citizenship and serves as an inspirational role model for her peers.

She strives to complete all of her work accurately and takes great pride in the quality of what she produces. And yet, despite her strong sense of independence, she is never afraid to ask for help when she needs clarification or guidance. What truly makes Adalyn special, however, goes far beyond her academic strengths. Adalyn is the first to notice when someone around her is upset or struggling, and without hesitation, she is there to offer comfort, whether it’s a kind word, a helping hand, or a warm hug. Her empathy and compassion for others are evident in everything she does. Adalyn’s positive attitude is contagious. She walks into the classroom each day with a smile that brightens the room and a readiness to learn that motivates others. Her cheerfulness, helpfulness, and thoughtful actions make her not only a joy to teach, but a shining example of what it means to be a good friend, a responsible learner, and a caring community member.
First Grade: Paisley Parrish
All throughout the year, since the moment she stepped into our first grade classroom, Paisley has demonstrated all the characteristics and values to earn the The Citizenship Award. She has consistently shown kindness to others in and out of the classroom by helping others pick up messes she didn’t make, always willing to help her classmates and myself out anyway she can, and being a good friend to others. She uses gentle words and makes sure to give praise and recognition to her classmates even when the victory may be small. Paisley is always following the classroom rules, as well as reminding her classmates of them. She helps keep our classroom a safe and fun learning environment. She shows respect to all adults and children she interacts with by always using her manners, showing she is an active listener by making eye contact and repeating questions. She plays fair at recess, P.E., and in classroom games. She always strives to do her best in any activity she is doing. She isn’t afraid to admit she made a mistake, and I admire her for that. Paisley's love for learning is remarkable. Always pushing herself and her classmates to think outside the box and excel. Inside and outside of the classroom, Paisley’s sweet, kind hearted, bubbly personality can lift anyone up and make them smile.
