We are so excited that Dawn wants to come to Fiberfusing ! Dawn is a felt artist and tutor based in Plainwell, Michigan, USA. She teaches extensively within the USA and internationally. Feltmaking is for Dawn a path of exploration and selfexpression, a journey , a gift in so many ways. She sells her work under the label ‘Felt So Right’ Her felt art has appeared in numerous exhibitions, shows, magazines and books, including Ellen Bakker's book, Worldwide Colours of Felt, several issues of the Australian 'FELT' Magazine, the International Feltmakers Association Felt Matters journal, the HGA journal Shuttle, Spindle & Dyepot. Dawn’s felt vessel, ‘The Earth Beneath My Feet’ (2022) and her 'Blue Coral' felt hat (2020) were both chosen as juried selections for FELT: Fiber Transformed in the magazine, ‘Fiber Art Now’. Dawn is the co-coordinator of the not-for-profit group, 'Felt United', which currently has over 7,500 members, with the goal of uniting feltmakers from all around the world.

Day 1:

* introduction and short video

* hats to try on to find your model and make a pattern

* patterns, concepts, resists making and designs

* begin hat

Day 2:

* questions about day1

* making patterns using Dawn's or modifying your pattern

* finishing the hat

Day 3:

* if you like you can make another hat or start with the vessel

* techniques for making textured surfaces resembling a woodsy forest floor

Day 4:

* begin creation of prefelts and embellishments

* start the vessel creation

Day 5:

* continuation of the vessel

* final questions and workshop conclusion

* goodbye!

This 5 day workshop includes all the lunches and drinks during the days. The lunches are homemade and healthy . We serve coffee and tea whole day and there are some softdrinks and waters with herbs and fruits. You can use the tools we have in our studio but if you want to bring your own, it's allright too. When you confirm your registration you will receive the materiallist.

This 5 day workshop costs € 750.

You will receive a definitive "Go or no go", 3 weeks before the start of the course. Please keep this in mind with all your reservations. Make sure you have a good travel-insurance!
