A wonderful first week!
What's the recipe for a great first week at a middle school? It must be our combination of students- because they are truly wonderful. The RJH staff witnessed countless moments of appreciation, kindness, and enthusiasm from our students. Truly, this is a year for all of us to reflect on how fortunate we are to be a part of your student's middle school years.
Principal's Advisory Committee
Are you looking to get involved at RJH? We are looking for members to join the Principal's Advisory Committee, which is a parent/guardian group that discusses successes and challenges we are working through at RJH.
RJH reminders
* All students must arrive by 8:15 each day, or will be considered tardy. After some procedural soul searching, our office staff convinced me that adults DO NOT have to check students in when they are tardy. Please feel free to walk your child in when they are tardy, but it is not necessary. In fact, entering the building, signing in, and getting a pass builds independence!
* However, if your child is being picked up early, we do ask that you come into the building's entrance and let us know you are here. We will then call your child out of class to be dismissed early.
* Each day, students will turn in all personal devices, such as cell phones, smart watches, and smart/AI glasses to their homeroom, which will have a designated location for these items.
* Each Thursday, please watch for that week's edition to the Rye Current, which will include important dates, school wide information, and team newsletters.
From our office staff, Mr. Ferris and Mrs. Piela
Welcome to RJH! We are so excited to meet all of the incoming 5th graders and their families, and see our returning students and families. The RJH office hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30-3:30.
Please don’t forget to let us know if your student will be absent, tardy, or dismissed early from school. Please email us at rjhsoffice@sau50.org or call 603-964-5591. The office staff, principal, and nurse will get any emails sent to this address. All students need to check in with the office if they are tardy or dismissed early. Any doctor’s notes can be given to the office or emailed to us.
If you need to pick up your student early, please arrive by 2:30 to avoid the bus congestion, and please come inside to sign them out. Also, we like to support your student’s independence as they mature, so you only need to contact us if your student is taking a bus home with another student or getting off at another stop, which necessitates a bus pass. And, if your dismissal plans change, reach out to the office and we will let your student know at the end of the day.
We hope this helps your family with communication plans. But we know you’ll have other questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
