A Lunch Schedule Update and a Few Helpful Reminders
Beginning Monday, November 2, we will be moving to a two-lunch schedule to better reflect our current staffing. Our new lunch times will be:
Kindergarten-Grade 2: 11:30β11:55 a.m.
Grades 3-5: 12:00β12:25 p.m.
We appreciate your flexibility and support as we make this adjustment. We are also always looking for people who would like to help make lunchtime a positive experience for our students. If you or someone you know, a family member, neighbor, or community member, is interested in volunteering or being hired as a lunchroom supervisor, please reach out to Mr. Sheptoski, our Dean of Students.
A few ways families can help make lunchtime successful:
Keep snack and lunch separate. Please pack your child's snack in a separate pocket or location from their lunchbox and talk with them about which items are for snack and which are for lunch. We are noticing that some students are eating much of their lunch during snack time. This can leave them with little to eat at lunchtime and extra time in the lunchroom without food to eat. Helping your child understand which items are for snack and which are for lunch can make a big difference!
Please leave caffeinated drinks at home. Caffeinated sodas, energy drinks, and caffeinated waters can create significant disruptions in the lunchroom and make it more challenging for students to focus on learning in the afternoon.
Thank you for partnering with us to make lunchtime a safe, positive, and enjoyable part of the day for all of our Houdini Hawks.
