Brockett Bulletin
Superintendent Communication: November 19, 2021
Out and About in our Schools
I'm so proud of the people in this district. Kitchen workers, custodians, instructional assistants, teachers, principals and everyone else who contributes to the learning environment for kids.
The video below is just a small snapshot of the dedication and professionalism the MSD staff bring every day to your children's schools.
Parent Town Halls Feedback
Over the past few weeks, I hosted seven virtual Town Hall meetings for parents. The Town Halls followed a ThoughtExchange, which asked families to share topics or concerns they wanted to know more about during the meetings.
I appreciate everyone’s feedback!
There were many different responses both in the Town Halls and the ThoughtExchange. To see a summary of the most common responses and some of the solutions the district is moving toward, click here.
McMinnville Education Foundation
Kudos to the MEF board and all the people in the community who support our students through their organization. Thank you!
Reminder: Thanksgiving Break begins a day early this year, with a "Care & Connection" day scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 24.
I wish you and your family a restful, restorative and joyous holiday! The next Brockett Bulletin will be sent on Friday, Dec. 3.
New Family Resource Center
Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to offer suggestions about what the new Family Resource Center (scheduled to open in the new year) might offer our families.
The ThoughtExchange will remain open until Monday, Nov. 22, if you have ideas to share!
Staff Shoutout
One of the many ways our staff has stepped up in this unusual year is by becoming certified to drive transportation vans to ease the bus driver shortage.
Dave Clauson (pictured above) is one of several who have helped keep after-school programs (like the Mac High robotics team) running despite busing challenges.
Thank you to the many who are going above and beyond to keep learning opportunities available to our kids!
Want to become van certified?
First Student van drivers are paid $19.25 an hour and no CDL is required.
Major responsibilities include safely transporting passengers; performing pre/post trip vehicle inspections; and assisting students in the loading and unloading process.
Applicants must have good verbal communication skills, be at least 21 years old, have held a
valid driver’s license for at least 3 years, and be subject to a drug screen, physical and background check.Find out more here.
