🆕 MCS K-12 Mathematics Instructional Framework

We are pleased to announce the implementation of a new math instructional framework for this school year, aligning with the new Georgia K-12 Mathematics standards and expectations. This framework is designed to enhance our teaching strategies and provide our students with the best learning experiences. It is also in alignment with the components of the GADOE Learning Plans, that accompany each unit. We look forward to working together to successfully integrate these new guidelines into our classrooms. There is an on-demand Professional Learning module available in Schoology, offering detailed guidance on implementing this framework in any mathematics classroom (it is linked below).

Stay tuned for additional training and resources to support this transition!

🆕 MCS K-5 Mathematics Pacing Guidance 24-25

We're excited to share our new daily pacing guidance for math instruction, which includes a selection of lessons designed to support your teaching journey through each unit. This resource includes GADOE Learning Plans, Savvas, and Math in Practice lessons which are all hyperlinked. Units 1-2 are available in the Curriculum folders on Schoology now! Please note that these documents are dynamic and will be updated throughout the school year, with a guarantee that you will have access to each new unit no later than 4 weeks prior to the week of instruction.

Lesson Planning Guidance

It is important to understand the purpose of this pacing guidance. It is intended to serve as the primary planning tool, in conjunction with the district Unit Planners, to guide instruction. While these guides offer a structured approach, we understand that each school's math block timing may vary. Please use these lessons as a foundation and adjust your planning to fit your specific time frames and classroom needs. Your flexibility and professional judgment are key to providing the best learning experience for your students.

MCS Curriculum Maps & Unit Planners

We would like to remind everyone that our district Math Unit Planners remain the primary resource for all information related to the math units. These planners are carefully designed to provide comprehensive guidance on lesson planning, instructional strategies, and assessment practices. They include all the essential materials, learning plans, and links to additional resources to support your teaching. You can locate them in the Schoology OAA Course, in their respective grade level folders.

As we continue to update and refine these planners, we encourage all teachers to refer to them regularly to ensure alignment with the curriculum and best practices. Whether you're looking for unit overviews, specific lesson plans, or supplementary materials, the Math Unit Planners are your one-stop shop for everything you need to deliver high-quality math instruction.

Please note that the Georgia Department of Education (GADOE) has migrated much of their curriculum content to the new GADOE Inspire platform. This transition has resulted in broken links on many of the GADOE links in our MCS Unit Planners. We understand this may be frustrating as teachers begin accessing the planners through Schoology. Rest assured, we will update these links as soon as possible. In the meantime, all GADOE curriculum resources can be accessed through http://inspire.gadoe.org. Please note that teachers may need to create a profile using their district email to access the materials.

K-5 Math Common Formative Assessments

The Math Common Formative Assessment Blueprints have been updated! These blueprints now include the most current assessment windows, providing you with a clear schedule for administering these important assessments. The updated blueprints are designed to help you better align your instruction with the assessment expectations and ensure that your students are well-prepared. Please take a moment to review the new blueprints and mark the assessment windows on your calendars. You can locate them in the Schoology OAA Course, in their respective grade level folders.
