Dear Emerson Families,
I’m so excited to be back at school after spending the past few months on maternity leave. It’s been a joyful and memorable time for my family, and I’m grateful for the well-wishes I received during my absence.
As I return, I’m reminded of the energy, curiosity, and resilience that make our students so special. I look forward to reconnecting with them, supporting our staff, and working together with you to finish the school year strong. Thank you for your continued partnership in making our school a nurturing and engaging place for every child to learn and grow.
Best of luck to our student athletes competing in the Special Olympics this weekend at Prospect High School! I hope all the Moms have a wonderful Mother's Day.
All the best,
Tessa

April SOARS Update
TikTok Trend Sparking Concern
Please be aware that there is a potentially hazardous TikTok trend where students are inserting items– paperclips or even just pencil tips— into the charging ports of their chromebooks and causing them to smoke and even start on fire. Please support our efforts to be responsible, respectful, and safe by talking to your students about this alarming trend. Any chromebooks with this type of damage will result in disciplinary action and may require parents to pay a full replacement cost of the chromebook at $300.
LRC Books Due!!
All books are due to the LRC by Friday, May 16. Any books not returned by this date are considered lost and are assessed the full replacement value per district policy. Please help your student locate any of their library books and remind them of this return date. Reach out to Mrs. Contreras if you feel there is an error on your student’s LRC account. Thank you for returning materials to keep our book collection complete!

6th Grade Dental Form Reminder
As a reminder, the state deadline for 6th grade dental exams is in May. Dental Forms were sent home with 6th Grade students that we do not have forms for. Please be sure to check your student's backpack! If you have not already done so, please upload your completed dental examination form to PowerSchool. An exam dated after 11/15/23 will fulfill the requirement. If you need to schedule an appointment, please do it now to ensure completion by the deadline. Thank you!

8th Grade Promo Dance Needs Your Help!
8th grade Families: The dance is right around the corner, as we still need donations. We need to keep our dancers hydrated, so please consider donating Gatorade, LaCroix, and water. We need just a few more families to get us to our goal. Thanks to all those who have already contributed!
6th and 7th grade Families: We are struggling to fill the volunteer slots (at the end of the sign up). Decorating, helping at the dance, and cleanup requires hands-on help. A few hours of your time will make a tremendous impact on the success of this event. This is a chance to show up for the older students and model the kind of support we hope that they'll receive in the future.
We know everyone is busy and we appreciate your support! If you have any questions, please email laura.newton15@gmail.com

Emerson Green Team News
It’s time to sort out school supplies! The Emerson Green Team would like to encourage all families to help students sort through their school supplies by:
- Reusing as many of their school supplies as possible for the next school year.
- Donating any gently used school supplies like notebooks, folders, writing & drawing utensils, rulers, pencil cases, etc. Emerson School will have donation boxes in each classroom the week of May 19th through May 23rd. We will be donating items to area schools in need, the Crayon Initiative, or bring items to Scarce, an organization that works to reduce waste and give back to students everywhere.
- Recycling all paper products (notebooks/folders). Just make sure to remove any metal parts.
Thank you for helping make the world a greener place!
