ROCK CONNECTION
Strasburg Elementary Newsletter
November 5, 2025
As we move into the heart of November, I’m grateful for the partnership we continue to build with our families and community. Our students are showing tremendous growth, and that is a direct reflection of the support, encouragement, and consistency they receive at home and at school. Thank you for staying engaged, attending conferences, and working with us to help every child thrive. We are excited for the events and opportunities coming up this month and appreciate all you do to keep SES such a special place!

SES HIGHLIGHTS
We’ve had an exciting and enriching few weeks at SES! Our school hosted a GT Workshop Event, where gifted and talented students from across the eastern plains came together to challenge themselves, collaborate, and build new skills in a fun and supportive environment. We were also thrilled to welcome the Colorado Ballet for a special in-school performance that brought music, movement, and storytelling to life. In addition, our 5th grade Student Council representatives attended a leadership conference, learning new strategies and representing SES with pride. We also celebrated one of our favorite SES traditions, our Halloween Parade and Classroom Parties. We are so grateful for all the family support that made the day special. It’s been a month full of learning, creativity, and wonderful community moments throughout our school.
DOORS OPEN FOR STUDENTS AT 7:30 AM
As temperatures drop, we want to share a quick reminder about morning arrival procedures. School doors open and playground supervision begins at 7:30 AM. Students should not arrive before this time, as we are unable to provide supervision.
Students are not permitted to wait in the lobby or office before 7:30 AM unless it is indoor arrival. When the temperature is 20°F or above, students will go directly to the playground when they arrive. Please ensure your child comes to school with appropriate winter clothing—coats, hats, and gloves—to stay warm and comfortable.
Thank you for helping us keep students safe and ready for a great day of learning
We are excited to host our annual Holiday Shop! This special tradition gives our students the opportunity to shop for their family and friends with small, meaningful tokens of love and appreciation.
This year, we do not have an active parent group to help support the event, so we are kindly asking for your help. We are looking for volunteers to assist with setting up the shop, as well as helping classrooms shop throughout the school day. Your support ensures that every student can enjoy this experience.
If you are able to volunteer, please sign up using the link below. We are grateful for any time you can give. Thank you for helping make this tradition possible for our students!
Please remember to sign up for volunteer opportunities you must fill out a Parent Volunteer Form that can be found on our website. https://ses.strasburg31j.com/family-resources/ses-volunteer-opportunities
We will be taking unclaimed items from our Lost & Found for donation the week of fall break. We urge everyone to check the collection one last time! If you've misplaced anything—clothing, accessories, or personal items—please take a moment to stop by and see if it’s waiting for you. We’ll be donating all unclaimed items soon.
Veteran's Day Assembly
We are honored to invite all families and community members to join us for our Veterans Day Assembly on Tuesday, November 11th at 8:30 AM in the cafeteria.
This special event, presented by our Student Council and Choir Program, will celebrate and recognize the service and sacrifices of our nation’s veterans. We would be especially honored to have any veterans or active-duty service members in attendance as our guests of honor.
Please help us spread the word and encourage the veterans in your life to join us for this meaningful celebration. We look forward to coming together as a school community to show our gratitude and respect.

Remote Learning Plan for Bad Weather Days
As we head into the colder months, please take a moment to review our Remote Learning Plan for snow days or other weather-related closures. Cold Weather Recess Policy
To ensure the safety and comfort of all students during cold weather, we will hold indoor recess when either the actual temperature or the wind chill is below 20°F.
We use the most recent local weather data at the time of recess to make this determination. When temperatures are 20°F or above, students should come prepared to go outside with appropriate winter clothing, including coats, hats, and gloves.
Fresh air and outdoor play are important, but safety comes first—so please make sure your child is dressed for the weather each day.
