Message from Ms. Lahey
Greetings Hembree Families!
I hope you all had a wonderful short week. This weather has certainly been interesting and it is supposed to get very cold again next week. I am ready for spring. With the occasional warm days, spring fever has begun and we are seeing an increase in discipline incidents. Please partner with us by talking to your children about making good choices and to encourage them to reach out to the teachers and adults when there is an issue.
We are also noticing an increase in tardies and absences. I completely understand being on the struggle bus, but please help us by ensuring students arrive on time. One of our school improvement goals is attendance, so please help us make our goal of 95% satisfactory.
We are excited to receive new devices for our students in grades 3-5/ Devices will be deployed on beginning on Monday March 2nd. Please see the information below from the district regarding the new devices.
We are looking forward to our annual Dance and Silent Auction Fundraiser next Friday, February 27th from 6:00-7:30. This is PTA’s largest fundraiser of the year. Please come out and support and make a bid on our amazing raffle baskets and staff experiences. I am looking forward to seeing you all next Friday.
The last day of school this year has been changed from Thursday, May 21st to Wednesday, May 20th. Please make note of this.
Attention 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Parents,
Please join Ms. Erskine-Wilson and me on Tuesday, March 3rd at 5:30 PM for an informative virtual meeting on Microsoft Teams about the upcoming Georgia Milestones Assessment.
During this session, we will:
- Share important testing information and expectations
- Provide helpful resources to support your child at home
- Answer any questions you may have about the assessment process
The Teams meeting link will be sent to all families with children in 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade on Monday, March 2nd.
We look forward to connecting with you and partnering together to support our students’ success!
A quick reminder that the deadline to purchase a yearbook is March 20th. This date will be here before we know it. We do not order extra copies, so please be sure to purchase yours before the deadline. Thank you for your understanding.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Warm Regards,
Nancy Lahey
Chromebooks Coming for Students in Grades 3-5
We are thrilled to share some exciting news! Over the next couple of weeks, our 3rd-5th grade students will be receiving brand new Chromebooks to support learning in the classroom.
Chromebook Distribution
These devices are designed to be student‑n friendly and reliable, helping students quickly access digital learning tools with ease. Chromebooks start up in seconds, have long‑lasting batteries, and include built‑in security features managed by the school district.
Students will simply log in using their district credentials and be ready to learn right away.
Important for Elementary Families
For our Grades 3-5 students, Chromebooks will remain at school and be stored in the classroom. This helps reduce the risk of damage, loss, or theft while still allowing students to benefit from daily access to technology for learning.
Each Chromebook comes with:
A protective case
An identification label
A charging cord
All equipment remains the property of the school district and must be returned in good condition. Please note that students may not write on or place stickers on the Chromebook or case.
Learning Tools & Safety
Students will be able to use web‑based learning platforms and access Microsoft 365 apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) through ClassLink. All student work is saved securely in the cloud using OneDrive.
District internet safety filters remain in place to block inappropriate content, helping ensure a safe online learning environment.
Optional Device Protection Plan Still Available
Families may still choose to purchase the optional Device Protection Plan for the remainder of the school year. While optional, this plan is strongly recommended.
Cost: $20 for the rest of the school year, plus applicable deductibles if damage occurs.
Without coverage, families are responsible for the full cost of repairs, which typically range from $30-$270, with total loss fees up to $450, depending on the device.
How to Purchase the Protection Plan:
Call the Technology Support Center at 470‑254‑HELP, or
Submit a request using the district's submit a technology support ticket.
We are excited to place these new learning tools into our students' hands and appreciate your partnership in helping them be successful and responsible users of technology. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Beanstack Reading App
Have you heard your child mention anything about an app called Beanstack? It was introduced in the Media Center. Beanstack is a digital reading log that students can use to log the number of minutes they are reading. They can earn badges and rewards along the way. If your child is reading at school, home, daycare, etc. they can log their minutes and help us get closer to our goal. The following is a video explaining how to use Beanstack from home. You can always find your child's lunch number/student number in infinite campus or email Mrs. Soberanis: soberanis@fultonschools.org. Happy Reading!
