Good afternoon Families!
The chill is definitely in the air and we are all in the Halloween spirit! I hope you’ll all be able to make it tonight to the Trunk or Treat event at WES from 6:00-7:30! Be prepared to have fun and maybe a few spooky surprises! Thank you to our WESPO folks for organizing and supporting our school!!!
Some of our 5th and 6th grade students are going to have an opportunity to help pilot a new program in conjunction with Cambridge Elementary School. Cambridge has a program called the Tech Ambassadors. Students participate in a class each week learning about technology and tech related tools and equipment. Once they learn about these technologies and techniques, they become the “experts” in the school and have opportunities to help out the school in tech related activities. Some activities might include filming a special event, or helping with the photocopier, photography or making something with a 3D printer. Students have to apply to the program, be interviewed and then selected by the teachers that are running this program. We have a few interested students at WES this year, and the selection process will be happening soon! Selected students will travel by a district van to CES once a week to participate in this program. We are hoping if this goes well, we will be able to do it every year and possibly expand the program to include more students. Other 5th and 6th grade students (that are not selected or did not wish to participate) will have the opportunity to become part of our first student council. This group of students will help plan and create events for WES and help student voice become more prominent in our school.
We will be doing a food drive in November, as we usually do, and those items will be sent to the Johnson food shelter. Also, as always, if you know of someone who directly needs food assistance for the upcoming holidays, and may not be able to travel to a food shelf, please let us know and we can help with that. More information will be coming soon. Thank you in advance for helping us with this important project!
Warmest regards,
Jan Patrick
Mass Communication Test
Stay Connected! Districtwide Communication Test – November 6
As winter approaches, Lamoille North wants to make sure our families are receiving important school communications, including weather-related closures, delays, safety notifications, and student updates.
On Friday, November 6 at 6:00 PM, we'll conduct a districtwide test of our communication system. Families can expect to receive a test message through phone, email, Infinite Campus inbox, and text message (if activated).
We encourage all parents and guardians to take a few moments before November 6 to review their contact information in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Text messaging is a great way to receive timely updates, but families must activate this feature to receive messages.
Strong school-to-home communication is essential, and we appreciate your help in keeping our families informed, connected, and prepared!
