Dear DMS Families,

It was so great to see all of our students back at DMS this week. While it is sad to see summer go, I am sure many of you are happy to be back in a day to day school routine. Soon enough, we will get back into the full swing of things.

As we move into next week, I want to remind you that there is first day paperwork to complete for each student. We know this can be overwhelming, so we tried to make it as easy to manage as possible. On paper, students have the Student Contact Sheet (front) and Medical Consent Form (back). Please be sure to update the contact and medical information as soon as possible. Students can turn those papers into their homeroom teacher.

In addition, you can complete the rest of the sign- offs in Aspen portal, under the “permissions” section. This includes Technology Permissions, Student Handbook Sign- off, and Photo/Directory Release permissions. If this has not been completed as of yet, please do so by Monday, September 9, 2024.

Below you will find information on a History Through the Ages exhibition, as well as homework folders, SEPAC information and Aspen/Chromebook information.

Have a great weekend!

Chromebooks/Aspen Sign- in for Grade 5 Chromebooks/Aspen Sign- in for Grade 5

Grade 5 students will be receiving Chromebooks on MONDAY. Unfortunately, the shipment arrived later this summer than is typical, and they were still being prepared for our 5th grade students. However, we wanted to make you aware that we are close to being able to assign them to students.

In addition, students received their login information for Aspen portal this week.

History Through the Ages Exhibition History Through the Ages Exhibition

On September 7th and 8th, there will be a history exhibition at Redway Plain in Rehoboth. The exhibition, titled "History Through the Ages” focuses on the uniforms, equipment, music, and lifestyles of people from the Roman period, through colonial history and up to the modern era. Various local historical societies from Bristol County will also be representing their local communities as the country gears up to the 250th anniversary of our country’s founding. It offers a unique, interactive experience that aligns well with topics covered in the older grades.

Given the relevance to curriculum, a visit to this exhibition could greatly enhance student understanding and engagement with the subject matter. It would allow them to explore historical artifacts, engage with historical impressionists, see displays, and enrich their own learning experience.

You can find further details at History Through the Ages .

Dighton PTO Support Dighton PTO Support

Our amazingly supportive PTO will be looking for volunteers throughout the school year. If you will be interested in supporting the PTO through volunteering opportunities, please confirm that you have an up-to-date CORI on file at DRRSD Central Office. Unfortunately, we cannot accept volunteers until a CORI form is complete.

In addition, the PTO has a few board member openings. If you are interested in becoming a board member, please reach out to ptodighton@gmail.com.
