The Weekly Update 5/19/2026

Tawanka had a blast with the Phillie Phanatic! All students and staff had a great time at the assembly. A fun afternoon well deserved thanks to the dedication that our students had to reading.

In our annual contest for bragging rights, the red team came out victorious. We have gathered a ton of photos from the event and created the slideshow below for you to look through and enjoy.

We are excited to announce an upcoming whole-school drone picture that will capture our entire student body in a very special patriotic display! Information regarding your child’s assigned shirt color and picture details will be coming home from your child’s teacher soon.

For the picture:

• 4th Grade students will wear royal blue
• Kindergarten through 3rd Grade students will wear either red or white based on their classroom assignment

To help us prepare, please send in an appropriate colored shirt ahead of time so your child can be properly outfitted for the picture. Shirts do not need to be plain — graphic tees are perfectly fine since they can easily be turned inside out for the photo.

Additionally, if you are cleaning out closets this week, please consider donating any extra red, white, or blue shirts that your family no longer needs. These donations will help ensure every student is able to participate and look picture-ready for this memorable event.

We cannot wait to see our entire school come together for this exciting opportunity!

FAB Lab visited Tawanka to give the students some hands on learning on computer science and fabrication.

The District Art show is Wednesday May 20th and Thursday May 21st at the High School in Gym 1 from 6:00 to 8:00. Come see the beautiful works of art on display!

Note from the nurse:

The hot weather is approaching fast! Please send your child with a water bottle and remind them to drink throughout the day. They will be going out to recess unless a heat advisory has been issued.

Second grade parents, you should have received a letter in the mail with a dental form needed next year for third grade. Dental exams after September 1, 2025 are acceptable to fulfill this requirement. Forms can be sent to school with your child, faxed (215-809-6353) or emailed to any nurse, this year or in the fall. Please reach out if you have any questions.

End of year medication pick up-if your child takes medication at school you will receive a letter via back pack with instructions for pick up… look for that later this week.

Miss Trotta's Kindergarten class had a fun time working with Indi the robot car during our Fab Lab visit this week!

Ms. Veneziale's class had a blast at field day!

Second grade took over the CPod to read for the Excited About Reading day! The ABC countdown started on May 6th so today was E day!

Mr. Barberides and Mrs. Atwater’s classes went outside to measure different things. We measured each item in centimeters and inches and discovered that an item will always be more centimeters since they are smaller!

Mrs. Rukstele's class enjoyed their Field Day!
