As schools across the country prepare for a student walkout on Friday, January 30, Beacon Hill Middle School remains focused on student and campus security. This letter serves as a follow-up to our previous communication.
During a second meeting this week with school administrators, students who initially intended to organize a walkout alongside DHS on Friday expressed a desire to hold a separate walkout on Wednesday, February 4. This change followed their discussions about potential consequences and a clearer understanding of daily school logistics and instructional expectations.
The administration has designated a safe, supervised on-campus location for students who choose to participate in the walkout on Wednesday, February 4. Participation in this option is voluntary and intended as a safety measure; however, it does not allow students to leave class or walk out during instructional time. Additionally, to ensure appropriate supervision, maintain campus safety protocols, and preserve the orderly operation of the school day, parents and guardians will not be permitted on campus to participate.
Walkouts during instructional time are not permitted. If a student chooses to participate in either walkout, it is important that students and families understand that violations of the CSD Code of Conduct may result in consequences.
We appreciate your partnership and understanding as we strive to honor student voice while ensuring student and school campus safety.
Sincerely,
Alexis Glenn
Principal
