Jaguars inthe know Week of September 14

We had another great week at Johns Elementary! 💛🐆

👵👴 Grandparents Day – Monday: We are excited to celebrate Grandparents Day on Monday! We invite our students’ grandparents to join their grandchild for breakfast from 7:45–8:00 a.m.

For safety, security, and space, only up to two grandparents per student may attend. Parents and other relatives will not be permitted to attend this event. Grandparents must sign in at the front office upon arrival and receive a visitor badge before joining their grandchild for breakfast. Please plan to arrive with enough time to complete the check-in process. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us keep our campus safe and organized.

📚 Beginning-of-the-Year Screeners: Next week, we will provide an opportunity for students to complete any beginning-of-the-year (BOY) screeners they may have missed if they were absent during one of our testing days this week. Please continue to encourage your child to come to school every day, arrive on time, and do their very best.

🎉 Hispanic Heritage Month: On Tuesday, September 15th, our students can wear a Hispanic embroidered shirt.

📸 Picture Day: Picture Day went very well! Our Jaguars looked absolutely amazing, and we loved seeing all of their wonderful smiles!

¡Tuvimos otra excelente semana en Johns Elementary! 💛🐆

We would like to provide a friendly reminder regarding our school uniform expectations. Students are not permitted to wear jeans on Fridays unless the campus specifically communicates that it is an approved jeans day.

Unless otherwise communicated by the school, students should continue to follow the Johns Elementary uniform dress code each day, including Fridays.

Our school website has also been updated to reflect this expectation and provide families with the most current information.

Thank you for your understanding, cooperation, and continued support in helping us maintain consistent expectations for all students. We appreciate our Johns families and your partnership in making each school day successful.

👕🩳

🚗 Parking

  • Please use the parking spots to ensure the safety of our students and staff. When dropping off your student in the morning, if you are in the car line do not get out of your vehicle and delay traffic or leave your car unattended. If you need to talk or tend to your child please park your vehicle.

  • Please refrain to be on your cellphone in the carline for the safety of the students and staff.

  • When dropping the students in the morning at 7:45 am, a staff member will be holding a stop sign to have every four cars stop and let their student out of their car and ensure that the students walk to inside the campus safely. The staff with the stop sign will turn it around (sign will say slowly) indicating to slowly continue to move your car until the next four cars that need to drop off students stops. This causes a safety issue when students are being dropped off and the causes the flow of traffic to slow down.

  • If the students arrive after 8:10 a.m., parents must park their car and come into the office to sign them in; this is done for their safety.

🍕 Lunch

  • For the first three weeks of school we will not allow visitors for lunch on campus. We will be practicing procedures and expectations with the students and staff. When we resume visitors on campus for lunch, we are asking that If you are coming to eat with your student please limit the visitors to two per student and stay only during your child's lunch. Our cafeteria is small and it is getting crowded during lunch time making it difficult to have enough space to accommodate all visitors.

  • When sending lunch for your student please remember to Dojo your students teacher so that the teacher can have the student pick up the lunch on their way to the cafeteria.

⏰ Dismissal Cards

  • Please remember to bring your dismissal card when picking up your students from school. If you need a new dismissal card please contact your student's teacher.

Away for the Day Cellphones Away for the Day Cellphones

Goal: Reduce distractions, improve learning focus, and support a positive, respectful school environment for all students and staff.

Away for the Day means that students' personal devices – including cell phones, tablets, text-messaging devices, smartwatches, and similar electronics – must be powered off and out of sight during all parts of the school day, bell-to-bell. This includes class time, transitions, lunch on campus, and restroom breaks.
