Dear WMS Families,
It is that time of year where we there are many opportunities for celebration and connection. Here are some ways we are celebrating, and how you can connect this week:
- Our building was excited to host MusicFest, back for the first time in 3 years, this past weekend.
- Susan Carle (AP) and Tom Cloherty (Guidance Counselor) joined me in visits to every 5th grade student last week, and we are looking forward to meeting many 5th grade caregivers this coming week as we prepare to welcome our newest school community members in just a few short months - see the photo above.
- It is teacher appreciation week this week. You can help show appreciation to our hardworking and dedicated educators by encouraging your child to write a note or two of gratitude to a teacher. The PTO is going to surprise our teachers with a few treats this week, so reach out to our PTO President at Erin Macomber <erin_macomber@neds.org> if you want to help out.
- I hope to see many of you at the upcoming coffee with the principal this Thursday (8:35-9:25am, WMS Cafeteria). We will focus on school safety, with an opportunity to meet our school resource officer, Officer Anna Margaryan.
- DESE Parent/Caregiver Focus Groups: There is a DESE comprehensive audit of WPS taking place in our district during the week ahead. For additional details and if you would like to participate in a parent/caregiver focus group, please read Dr. Galdston's newsletter that was sent out on April 27 - DESE Parent/Caregiver Focus Groups
We are planning to have a school dance on May 5th from 6-8pm! Right now, we are looking for any caregivers that are interested in contributing to the event (chaperoning, setting-up, donating, decoration). You must be CORI'ed in order to attend the event. We are happy to help with that process! Please contact Assistant Principal Susan Carle (susan.carle@watertown.k12.ma.us) to express interest.

May 4: Coffee with the Principal - School Safety Q&A (8:35-9:25am, WMS Cafeteria)
May 4: Caregiver Info Night - for the 5-6th grade transition (7:00pm, virtual)
May 5: School Dance (6-8pm for students, 5:30-8:30pm for chaperones)

WMS Yearbook 2023!
It's that time of year where you get to order a yearbook! This is an opportunity open to ALL grades. The deadline to purchase your yearbook is MAY 12TH. Students who would like a yearbook must order one online by that deadline; we can not order additional yearbooks after. Yearbooks cost $23, and can be purchased here: YEARBOOK ORDER ONLINE
