HAVE A GREAT SUMMER
it is hard to believe that the school year is finally over. The older one gets the faster time seems to fly by. Hopefully, you take the time to spend time with family and friends. If there is one thing I know is that time is precious as are our children.
I know that all of as adults are stressed - sometimes day to day, on occasions, or thinking we have no stress to speak off. I know all of us have stress. I know that one of the best ways to combat our own stress is to develop a "family" of friends, acquaintance, or family members. We can never do it on our own.
So with that in mind, I want to thank my Reeds Road family for what they do each and every day and what they do for our - oops, your children. Here are my family members who worked with the students all year long:
The teaching, support, and classroom assistants staff members who worked diligently to provide the best educational opportunities possible. They were able to do what they do knowing the light bulbs would eventually come on and it was because of their perseverance that the light bulbs do come on. Many people, outside the profession, think being an educator is easy. I will tell you it is a 24/7 job year round - think of taking your own family and add another 20 children in your house each day.
The secretarial staff who answer the phone calls, assist parents bringing in their children late or leaving early, and sometimes being gruffly talked to even when it is not their fault. AND if you have had contact with them, it is always with a smile!
The custodial staff who keep our building clean each day, but more importantly are called to clean up in the classrooms when a student has an accident. They work more in the shadows with little thanks some days but always at the ready.
The FSA who provided different assemblies, activities, programs, and worked tiredly to support all of our students. Yes, they could use more help, but they kept going just the Eveready Rabbit with new things and ways to have them for all of our student.
In the summer months my school family goes their own way. Stress still takes place. ESY moves in, but I also know our Summer Family is going to make our school noisy again with learning going on each day. Different family members but doing what the Reeds Road family does each day.
HAVE A GREAT SUMMER - ENJOY YOUR CHILDREN - THANKS FOR SHARING THEM WITH US

GREAT HAPPENING
Each month there are so many great happenings with loads of pictures that I get to choose from. I can never decide and actually narrow the choices down so everyone who read our newsletter will read what is in and not just look at the great happening.
Next year, I will remember to let families know to check out the GTPS website and our own Reeds Road website to see each month the great things staff and students are doing. Some times it is academic work. Some times it is contest entered and participated in. Sometimes it is just funny stuff to lighten everyone's load. Keep checking us out.
There were many videos and pictures from our Masked Singer assembly. As sort of the culmination not only of Field Day Week but of our year. I hope you enjoy the video and can laugh along with us. Thanks to the many staff members over the year who has shared pictures or videos of the great things we do each year.
Family and School Association Executive Board
FAMILY AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION
NEEDED VOLUNTEERS - There are many upcoming events that the Executive Board have planned for our students and their families between now and the end of the year. Without additional help and support, there is always the risk of not being able to have those events. If you can help out, email the Executive Board at REEDSFSA@gmail.com
CREATE
ATTENDANCE
Families need to call their child out each time they are out of school. Failure to do so will automatically count as an "unexcused absence."
FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH
There are two important issues for families to think about when reviewing the Free and Reduced forms. First and foremost, by being eligible, your child will be able to get a nutritional lunch each day. Please note that the eligibility criteria have changed. The state is moving toward having all students eventually have free lunch.
The second key to having families who are eligible sign up is that state aid to districts is connected to free and reduced lunch eligibility . The district will possibly get more aid if our eligibility is higher than 50%. Last year, the district did meet that requirement.
