A Year in Review
June 18, 2026
On behalf of the entire St. Mary of the Assumption School Community, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the generosity of our donors. Because of you, St. Mary's has continued to thrive and grow. The increase in our enrollment for the 2025–2026 school year reflects the enduring strength of our mission and the collective efforts of those who faithfully embody it. Your contributions have helped us enhance academic and extra-curricular programming, expand culturally responsive and experiential learning opportunities, and provide enriching experiences that benefit every single SMAS student.
We are grateful for the support that has made these accomplishments possible. Together, we can provide even more opportunities for our students to learn, grow, and thrive! There is still time to join our mission as we conclude the 2025-2026 school year.
Growing Our Fine and Performing Arts
Providing Educational Opportunities
Your generosity directly ensures that a deeply enriching St. Mary's education remains accessible to all families. This year, we celebrated our largest graduating class in more than a decade. This huge accomplishment is a testament to the continued growth, intentionality, and strength of our S.T.A.R.S. community. Through scholarship assistance and tuition support, donor contributions help remove financial barriers and ensure that every child has access to the excellent academic, faith-based, and extracurricular experiences that truly define a St. Mary's education.
Enhancing STEM Education
Strengthening Our Community
Expanding Athletics
The commitment to developing scholar-athletes is one that many staff and faculty are personally committed to - many of our faculty teach or serve on the Administrative team, and also coach our sports teams! Your contributions have helped us continue to grow our athletics program at a rapid rate, providing students with opportunities to develop teamwork, leadership, grit, athleticism, and perseverance. This year, we offered cross country, basketball, and volleyball while also piloting a new flag football program. These experiences promote healthy competition, school spirit, and lifelong skills.
Growing Our Educational Team
As our school continues to grow, so does our commitment to providing students with the highest quality educational experience. Thanks to your support, we have expanded our teaching team by hiring additional assistant teachers to better support our youngest learners. Investing in talented educators helps us maintain small-group instruction, promote student health and safety, and ensure that every child receives the attention and guidance they need to thrive. By strengthening our team, we continue to uphold the academic excellence and nurturing environment that families expect from St. Mary's.
Developing Student Support Resources
This year, we took important steps to expand the support available to our students. With the addition of Nicole Kfoury as Dean of Students, students have benefited from new leadership opportunities, re-imagined Student Government participation, participated in service initiatives, and received 1:1 and whole-class social-emotional learning support. Looking ahead, we are excited to further strengthen these resources with the addition of a full-time Student Support Specialist next year. In this role, Noel Kousidis will work with students with diverse learning profiles, including those with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), through targeted interventions, progress monitoring, and supportive in-class or small-group instruction. These investments reflect our commitment to supporting the whole child, academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
Offering Experiential Learning Opportunities
Learning extends far beyond the classroom at St. Mary's. Thanks to donor support, every student had the opportunity to engage in meaningful hands-on experiences throughout the school year. Students explored the world around them through field trips such as our middle school overnight Farm School experience, educational visits throughout Boston, and trips to community organizations including the Brookline Police Department. Guest speakers from a variety of professions enriched classroom learning, while service opportunities such as Easter flower donations helped students put their faith into action. These experiences bring learning to life and engage students with the world around them.
