The News
I hope everyone is having a fun and relaxing summer vacation! We have been busy at school all of June preparing for the 2026-27 school year and we will be in July too.
I have posted some important scheduled dates coming up in July and August. Just scroll down and you will find the information. I have also posted a vacation planner for your reference. This planner will show you how many days you will have to take vacations based on the school calendar. Obviously, you may take a vacation when you want. This calendar to help families avoid truancy issues.
Just because school is not in session doesn't mean our students, teachers and coaches haven't been working. We had 17 students attend an ACT workshop on campus voluntarily to improve their scores. Our new band director was on campus to meet his new students and their parents and community members. Our cheerleaders competed in camps at the University of Alabama and North Alabama. Our sports teams have been busy working out to stay in shape and sharpen and develop their skills as well.
In July, our Fall sports of football and volleyball will start revving up for the opening of their seasons in August. Jayson Tucker will begin to put his imprint on our band as their camp begins in mid-July. And, near the end of the month, we will begin schedule distribution and parking spot/locker purchases.
This will be a challenging year for us at PCHS. Because of mandates from the State Department of Education, based on numbers, we lost five teacher units this summer that we will not be able to replace. These units retired, changed jobs or were not retained. And, as of right now, we will be up over 25 students from where we ended last school year. This will mean potentially some larger class sizes, increase in online classes, and schedule change options will be limited. We are working through these challenges the best we can this summer. It will not be easy but we will make it work.
Finally, if you have even passively been following the visitors from countries from around the world here to watch the World Cup, you likely have noticed how they have found so much joy in the small things we take for granted. Walmart's are treated like museums, Buc-ees blows their mind, BBQ sends them into a euphoric state, Waffle House is a delicacy, and free unlimited refills feel like a trick. But mostly, they have noticed and been amazed at the ever changing scenery as they travel across this great country of ours.
America celebrates her 250th birthday this week. It is still, by far, the greatest country on the face of the earth. America still provides the most opportunity for a person to realize their dreams. It just requires want-to and hard work! Have a safe and happy Independence Day weekend!
Enjoy the rest of you summer vacation!

Class of 2027 Formal Pictures
Less than one-third of our rising seniors took their formal pictures in June. There is only one more allotted date on July 9. If you do not take them then you will have to schedule a date on your own and those spots fill fast.
I have had this question asked a few times, mainly by boys, "Do we have to take them?" The short answer is no. The longer answer is no BUT if you don't you will NOT have a senior picture in the yearbook or senior awards night and other places we use formal pictures. This should be a question any student is asking. Schedule the appointment and take the pictures!.
A $45 booking fee is required at the time of booking in order to reserve the student’s appointment time.
School Planner-Important Early Dates
We are still trying to lock in a date for fall sports pictures. Athletes and band members will be notified on Facebook, the end of July email, and by their coaches/directors.
