If you have not figured it out yet...There's Something Special About Sunset!
Happy Friday, Sunset Nation!
As we wrap up another week and finish our parent-teacher conferences, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on just how fortunate we are to be part of this community.
I've said it before, but there really is something special about Sunset, and a large part of that starts with our families!
Whether you're volunteering in a classroom, helping with a PTO event, supporting a fundraiser, attending a school activity or simply making sure your child gets to school each morning ready to learn, you are making a difference.
This past week was another great reminder of that partnership. Parent-teacher conferences provide an opportunity for us to celebrate our students, talk about their progress and work together on the areas where they might need a little extra support. I know these conversations aren't always easy, but they are important. We all want the same thing, and that's for our kids to be happy, successful and excited about learning.
I'm also incredibly thankful for our teachers and staff. They pour so much of themselves into our students every day, often doing things behind the scenes that most people never see. And when you combine that dedication with a parent community that genuinely cares about its school, you end up with something pretty remarkable.
We aren't perfect. No school is. But we have an awful lot to be thankful for, and I hope we never take that for granted.
So, as we head into the weekend, I simply want to say THANK YOU! Thank you for trusting us with your children, for supporting our staff and for helping make Sunset a place where kids feel loved, supported and encouraged to be their very best.
It really does take all of us, and I'm proud to be part of this Sunset Ohana!
Have a wonderful weekend, Sunset Nation!

Brand new"ish" news...
•Parking and Traffic~ Please see the following letter from Sergeant Harrison form the LPD traffic division.
Dear Parents,
As we progress through the school year, the Livermore Police Department would like to remind everyone to be mindful of the residents living in the neighborhoods surrounding our schools, particularly during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times.
Please be considerate when parking and avoid blocking driveways, parking in red zones, or parking near fire hydrants. Additionally, please do not block ADA-accessible curb ramps located at intersection corners, as these are essential for pedestrians, particularly those with disabilities.
We understand that school drop-off and pick-up times can be busy but taking a few extra moments to park legally and safely helps protect our students, maintain access for emergency vehicles, and minimize disruptions to nearby residents.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping keep our school neighborhoods safe and accessible for everyone.

•Core SEL Survey~ Parents/Guardians of 4th and 5th graders. I’m reaching out to emphasize the importance of the upcoming Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) survey. While the questions are somewhat general, they provide us with valuable insights into how our students are feeling. Whether they feel safe, supported and connected at school. These results help guide us in creating a positive and nurturing environment for every child.
In past years, many families have opted out, which limits our understanding of how to best support all of our students. I kindly ask that you consider allowing your child to participate this year. Your child’s voice matters and their input helps us make Sunset a better place for everyone.
Thank you for your continued support! I've included a few sample questions there and there is a link with more information on the LVJUSD District website under Student Services under CORE SEL.

While you are allowed and welcome on campus, we ask that you be cognizant of teachers time and student behavior while we work to instill a culture of kindness and integrity. While we value you and want you to know you are a vital part of our community and are welcome here, we are still asking that you help your child take steps to becoming independent as they find their own way to class as they enter campus.
It is exciting to see Kindergartners walk to class, hang up their backpacks, grab what they need and head into class...all on their own. Trust me, it will happen in time.
Student LVJUSD Gmail Accounts
In accordance with security guidance, IT has updated student passwords to 9-digits. That means students with 8-digit student IDs will need to add a leading zero and students with 7-digit student IDs will need to add two leading zeros to be able to log in. Students with 9-digit student IDs or who had previously changed their password to a personal password were not affected.
If students need help, they can get help from their teachers when school starts.
