A Note from the Principal: My Purpose and Passion
Dear Booker Families,
This week brings an exciting opportunity for us to come together during Open House as we launch into the school year with focus and purpose. With Beginning of the Year (BOY) testing complete, we now have valuable information that will help us set meaningful academic goals for every scholar.
These goals will serve as a roadmap to guide instruction, strengthen learning, and build momentum toward increasing student achievement.
At Open House, we look forward to sharing how we will partner with you in this important work—because when families and school team up, positive student outcomes follow. It will take all of us—teachers, parents, and students—working side by side, holding one another accountable, and celebrating progress along the way. Together, we can ensure every scholar is equipped to grow academically and socially, and we are excited to take these next steps with you.
With gratitude and anticipation,
Booker Elementary Leadership Team
TITLE I PARENT MEETING & ACCOUNTABILITY MEETING
5:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Gifted & Talented Screening Window - Closes on Friday!
ACCOUNTABILITY - YOU & ME AND EVERY SCHOLAR IN BETWEEN!
No Excuses, Just Results!
Dear Booker Families,
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to improve outcomes for every scholar at Booker Elementary. Following my recent letter about our accountability rating, I want to share the next steps our leadership team, staff, and community will be taking to ensure growth this year.
Family Engagement
Within the next few weeks, we will host our first Accountability Workshop to explain the state’s A–F system and provide practical strategies you can use at home. We will also hold Q&A sessions (both in-person and virtual) to answer your questions about PEG status, STAAR, and interventions. During Open House, teachers will meet with families to begin setting individual academic goals for every student.
Instructional Focus
Our staff is committed to visible instructional shifts. We will publish a Parent-Friendly Academic Roadmap highlighting Reading, Math, Science, and TELPAS focus areas along with ways you can help at home. Families will also receive BOY data snapshots so you can see your child’s starting point and growth goals.
Student Commitment
Scholars will hear the same message we are sharing with you: this is our year to prove what Booker can do. Through assemblies and pep talks, students will set simple, meaningful goals. Each will track progress with goal sheets or badges for areas such as attendance, reading, and math.
Staff Alignment
Our teachers and leaders are holding themselves accountable as well. Staff will engage in courageous conversations about our challenges and goals, and administrators will share a coaching and feedback calendar to show how we are prioritizing instruction above all else.
Communication
Every week, families will receive a short “Building Booker Back” bulletin that highlights one win from the week and one upcoming opportunity to get involved. We will also use social media to share moments of progress—tutorials, workshops, and student celebrations.
Together, these steps represent our shared Call for Change. With your partnership, we will ensure that every child is supported academically and socially. We will not be defined by a rating; instead, we will be defined by the progress we make together.
With commitment and determination,
Keisha Womack

VISITOR PROCEDURES
RING THE DOORBELL!
Parents or guardians will be required to stand in front of an exterior camera and present valid identification, such as a driver’s license, before they are granted access to the building. This camera is positioned outside, near the main entrance, and no one will be permitted inside until their identity has been verified by the front office staff. To further enhance security, adults are asked to close the door immediately upon entering and ensure no one follows them in and must proceed through the metal detectors. Tardiness not only impacts learning but can also interfere with the seamless implementation of these protocols.
Let’s work together to ensure everyone's safety and that every student is present, on time, and ready to learn each day!
