GRE Harvest Parties
Harvest Party Schedule
Date: Thursday, October 30, 2025
2:45 PM-3:20 PM (Set up begins at 2:15 PM)
→All volunteers must exit the building by 3:30PM
Costumes
Costumes are welcome, but not required. It is up to the child/family whether or not to wear a costume and each choice is equally respected. For those who choose to wear a costume, please consider the appropriateness of your child’s costume choice. Simulated weapons or any other dangerous costume parts should be left at home. Grim and violent costumes can scare young children and should be reserved for trick or treating in the neighborhood.
Students must be able to dress themselves in their costumes. Students can wear portions of their costumes to school that will not be a distraction to learning. The students will have an opportunity to complete their costumes prior to the party.
Volunteers
VOLUNTEERS: Classroom parties are limited only to those who have signed up and been approved. Due to space within the classroom, the number of volunteers is limited to 5. The parties and volunteers are coordinated collaboratively with the room parent(s) and classroom teachers prior to the party.
Volunteer Schedule:
Volunteer Arrival: Parent volunteers can go to classrooms no earlier than 2:15 p.m.
Volunteer Dismissal: Volunteers must be out of the building by 3:30 and out of the way of dismissal/bus traffic. The back parking lot must be cleared for walkers and bike riders by 3:30.
Parking for Volunteers
Please observe the No Parking signs along Glacier Ridge Boulevard. Also, observe the Fire Lane Restrictions on school property. Local police may ticket you. We also will open our playground for parking and there is parking along the streets available in the neighborhood.
Volunteers Signing Out Students
Volunteers can sign out their own child in the classroom in which they volunteer. Teachers will have sign-out sheets. If volunteers also want to sign out siblings, they must do so in the office. Please do not go directly to the sibling’s classroom.
Food
All food items should be pre-packaged at the factory and have the ingredient list on the packaging.
ALLERGIES: Please adhere to the food allergies of the students in the classroom. A letter from the clinic should have come home with students in classrooms who have known food allergies. Please use the SnackSafely allergy guide. Please do not send items that contain ingredients on the allergy list. If you have questions about allergies in a particular classroom feel free to call the office. Parents of students with allergies are welcome to send alternate food items for their child as a safety precaution.
Fruit: Fruit must have a peel or be pre-packaged at the factory (ex. oranges/clementines, bananas, pre-packaged sliced apples). This reduces allergy cross-contamination due to food preparation at home. Pre-cut fruit trays purchased at stores or prepared at home have similar cross-contamination concerns and should not be brought to parties.
Party Planning
Teachers and room parents should work together to plan the parties, activities, and food. A list of party volunteers must be sent to the room parent coordinator AND the office at least one week prior to the party. Only listed volunteers will be allowed.
If you have questions regarding the party, please feel free to contact the school at 614-733-0012.

Veterans Day Breakfast and Celebration 2025
The students and staff of Glacier Ridge Elementary are excited for our annual Veterans Day Celebration. This year our celebration will be held on Tuesday, November 11th starting with a breakfast in the GRE library at 9:15 AM followed by an assembly in the gym. Veterans, as special guests of our Glacier Ridge students and staff, are invited to attend. GRE students are encouraged to invite a family member who is a veteran.
In preparation for this day, we ask that anyone in our GRE family who would like to bring a veteran, please RSVP by completing THIS FORM by Tuesday, November 4. This will allow us to properly plan for and recognize each of our guests.
Registration is necessary in order to plan and to ensure appropriate seating and support. Family members are welcome to attend along with our veteran guests; however, seating will be limited for additional family.
*** PLEASE NOTE *** The format is different this year, with the breakfast reception first, followed by the assembly. Our staff will be ready to greet you upon arrival starting at 9:15 AM. Overflow parking will be available on the back playground lot. You can enter the building through both the front and back doors. In order to keep our students safe as they walk and bike to school, please do not arrive prior to 9:10.

Square 1 Art Fundraiser
Athletes to Aid Sports Equipment Donation Drive
Drive Dates: October 14th – November 1st
Glacier Ridge Elementary is hosting an equipment drive run by Athletes to Aid, a state-wide non-profit run by Jerome High School students, in collaboration with the organization Leveling the Playing Field! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to give back and support other kids throughout Greater Columbus.
Here’s how it works:
Students may donate new and gently used sporting equipment found on the Approved Donation List. Students may only bring equipment that can fit inside a plastic bag. They may place donations in the donation box located in the main commons area of GRE.
Parents should bring in any large equipment such as baseball bats, hockey sticks, golf clubs, any equipment that cannot fit in a plastic bag or items that are unsafe for bus transportation.
Parents are welcome to bring in these larger items to drop off during the school day or on the evenings of parent/teacher conferences.
Please reference the Approved Donation List for the items not accepted.
Collection boxes will be located in the main commons of GRE. The box will have the Athletes to Aid logo on it.
All donations will be donated to athletes in need of support. Let’s come together and make a difference through the power of sports!
Thank you for your help,
