March 5, 2026

It's been a fun reading week. Our visiting author, Lesa Cline-Ransome , was a big hit with the students on Tuesday. 👕Friday is Read My T-Shirt day 👕.
We also have two accomplishments to celebrate. Kenzie Letson was the winner of our school spelling bee and she just finished the next round of the spelling bee and has qualified to compete at the end of the month in Manchester at the New Hampshire State Spelling Bee. We wish her the best!
In addition, the Lebanon Maroon boys 3rd/4th grade basketball team were the champions of the double elimination tournament. Congratulations to Decker, Oliver, Max, Eli, Harrison, Asher, Sully, and Waylon and head coach Sarah Vashel and assistant coaches Heather Baker-Morris and Tom Vashel.
Please remember that there is an early dismissal on Thursday, March 12th and there is no school next Friday, March 13th. The staff will be here on both days because it is parent/teacher conferences. Please contact your teacher if you have not signed up for a conference yet. I will be available on both days if you'd like to set up a time to meet for any reasons.
Thank you,
Leah Wheelan, Principal

🎶 K-2nd Grade Sing - March 27 🎶
We will host the March K-2nd grade sing on Friday the 27th in the gym. We had a snow day during the last one!
Express Loop
Quick reminder to pull further forward in the express loop before stopping. We are trying to avoid having students exit cars where the rope is. They have to climb over the snow bank and duck under the rope which isn't safe. Hopefully our large snowfalls are over.

PTO Updates
PTO Meeting Tonight - March 5th at 6:30
Dear Hanover Street School Families,
Playground Fundraising
The Hanover Street School playground is overdue for updates, specifically the small green structure. Unfortunately, due to budget constraints, playground improvements were removed from the next year’s school budget.
We’re excited to share that the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation has generously offered to match up to $50,000 in donations raised by the PTO before the end of June! All funds raised will go directly to the playground.
How you can help:
Share our GoFundMe with family and friends
Donate directly to the PTO
Checks made out to “Lebanon Elementary PTO” can be sent into school via student folders or mailed to school at: HSS PTO, 193 Hanover St., Lebanon, NH 03766
Consider employer matching (the PTO is a 501(c)(3) organization). Your employer’s match would also be matched by the Jack and Dorothy Byrne Foundation. This would allow your donation to have 4X the impact!
If you’re interested in joining our fundraising committee, have ideas or experience with large-scale fundraising, please reach out to the PTO at hanoverstreetschoolpto@gmail.com.
Extra LEGOs?
Hanover Street is hoping to start an afterschool LEGO Club, but the school needs more LEGOs before it gets going. If you have extra LEGOs you’d like to donate, please drop them off at the front office. Thank you!
