Yake's Fun Run!
Fun Run packets went home this week for our Gators!
This year we're amping up the FUN for our Fun Run on May 2nd!
We have some new prize tiers and we will be having a Mystery Inflatable Race! Our Yake staff members will race from the baseball field to the finish line and *reveal* their identity (think The Masked Singer).
As each grade earns $3000- they will get to choose their Mystery Racer Character!
If you have a business interested to sponsoring a class. Please return the attached form or email PTO at Yakepto@wbsdweb.com!
All funds raised help support the events & activities that we host all year long at Yake. This includes keeping Field Trip costs low for everyone!
Fun Run Schedule!
Two new racers a Shark and a Gator!
We have a new Mystery Racer to announce!!
This morning our *Mystery Shark Racer* came to say Happy Administrative Professionals Day to Mrs. West & Mrs. Rinker!! We are so lucky to have both of you at Yake and there aren’t enough words to say how much we appreciate EVERYTHING you do!!
We hope you both have an amazing day filled with appreciation and love!
Our next *Mystery Racer* is the Gator!
Goodbye, Dotty!
So, our young fivers started the year with a class pet, a fish named Pistachio. Mrs. Hool felt like Pistachio needed a friend and brought in Dotty. Unfortunately, Dotty had a case of Ich and only lasted about 11 days. So, as a Yake first, our young fivers held a ceremony to bury and say goodbye to Dotty. The ceremony was complete with kind words, a song from Mrs. Rinker and a suitable head marker. Keep on swimming, Dotty!
M-STEP Testing!
M-STEP testing kicks-off in April. Please take a peek at the M-STEP testing schedule and the grade level parent letters. Please be sure to mark your calendars accordingly for these tests. Our Gators will be ready!
Please note that students enrolled in the Summer Learning programs will not have to register for the Summer Park Playground Program through the City of Woodhaven. We have spots reserved for our Summer Learning participants.
*Please contact your child's teacher if you think they would benefit from participating in our Summer Learning Program.

Birthday Celebrations!
Birthday Celebrations!
Every child’s birthday is important. However, we must take more care when sending birthday treats to school. In addition to pandemic related precautions, we must also consider student food allergies, student diabetes, and our national push for healthy eating. If you wish to send a prepackaged birthday treat, you will need to either send the treats in with your child in the morning or pull into one of the parent parking spots and call the office to have us come out and pick up the treats from you. Please make sure that the pre-packaged treats have the ingredients listed on the packages. Please label the treats with your child’s name and classroom teacher. Parents will not be allowed to deliver treats into their child’s classroom.
Visitor's & Volunteers!
As a reminder, no outside visitors will be allowed in our school unless they are volunteering or have an appointment. Any parent or visitor wishing to drop off or pick up a child, drop off a backpack or a lunch, etc. will need to call our office at (734)692-2230 for assistance. Staff members will welcome student in, escort students out and/or pick up backpacks, lunches and/or similar items as needed.
Yes, volunteers are welcome. However, they must be i-chat approved and the application is due one week prior to volunteering. To assess an IChat form, (Click here) and then click on the IChat form.
If parents wish to pick students up prior to dismissal, our office must be called before 3:20 p.m. Children will not be walked out to parents after 3:20 p.m.
