MS Science
On Tuesday, Mr. Hall and his 7th grade classes conducted a lab experiment where students were tasked to create an egg protection device that would protect it during a 2 meter drop and a drop from off the school bridge. Students used items like sponges, cotton balls, pipe insulation and bubble wrap to protect the soft boiled egg inside a box.
Last week, Morgan Zwirn, Licensed Counselor, talked to 6th-9th grade about the effects of screen time. More screen time is associated with higher anxiety and depression symptoms, and how it alters our brain and attention spans. She had students do an activity where they looked at the wall for one minute, talked to their friends for one minute, and then played on their phones for one minute. She didn't tell them how long she was timing them for, she just asked if it felt longer or shorter for each activity. Students noticed how easy it is to spend more time on their phone flipping through apps then it is to stare at the wall or even talk with friends.
