PTA Meeting & 2024-2025 Elections
DATE: Thursday, March 7
TIME: 5:00-6:00 p.m.
WHAT: Attend this very important meeting and get a very important parent (VIP) pass to enter Boggess early for Open House, immediately following the meeting. Kids are welcome to attend the meeting with you. We'll be holding PTA officer elections for 2024-2025, and we still have very important positions to fill.
Please see information below on nominating yourself or someone else for a role in PTA. We need everyone's help, or we are at risk of losing the many, many events and programs PTA provides for our Boggess community.
Register for Musical Minds After School Program
Our next after-school program will be Musical Minds, Piano Keyboard After-School Enrichment. Kids learn to play their favorite tunes on keyboards. They can choose the music they want to learn from our selection, including Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Moana themes, plus Disney tunes and radio hits. They'll learn to read music fast with our unique and easy visual method. This program is for both beginners and experienced players.
DATES: Wednesdays, March 27-May 15 (8 weeks)
TIME: 2:55-4:00 p.m.
COST: $240 per student (all materials included)
HERE'S HOW TO GET A DISCOUNTED RATE
We will need 2-3 volunteers to help on those Wednesdays from around 2:40-4:10 p.m. Volunteers will receive a 25% discount off registration for their child(ren).
Parent volunteers will help get registered students to the program from their classrooms, help supervise during the class, and assist with dismissal. All volunteers must have a current, completed background check in Voly. If you would like to volunteer, please email Jennifer Colvin at programs@boggesspta.org prior to registering for the class so you can receive the discounted rate. We are required to have parent volunteers present in order to offer after-school programs for our students!

4th & 5th Graders: Participate in the History Fair
Fourth and fifth graders are encouraged to enter the Plano ISD History Fair. This year's theme is "Turning Points in History."
For National History Day, students will select a topic and explore its historical importance. They will investigate time and place, cause and effect, change over time, and impact and significance. Topics could be people, eras, conflicts, or inventions. They'll dig deep and look at the bigger picture, then share their findings in a historical paper, exhibit board, multimedia, or performance.
DEADLINE: March 28
FOR MORE INFORMATION: Contact Ms. Crawford or Mr. Roe.
Graduating Seniors: Apply for the Boggess PTA Scholarship!
Boggess PTA awards a $500 scholarship to any graduating senior who attended Boggess Elementary for at least two years. Students must be enrolling in an accredited undergraduate degree program at an accredited college, university, or technical school for the 2024-2025 academic year. The scholarship is available to any graduating senior who meets the eligibility criteria, not only for Plano ISD students.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 11

Now Taking Nominations for 2024-2025 PTA Board
Boggess PTA board elections are in March. We have several positions we need to fill! These positions are CRITICAL to continuing our PTA and Boggess traditions.
WE NEED YOU! There is no PTA without you. ❤️

More About PTA Board Elections
Why should I become a PTA officer?
- Directly influence what the PTA does.
- Support your student, all students, and teachers.
- Continue Boggess traditions and family engagement.
- Stay in the know.
- Build your village of parents to help your children and family.
- It's fun!
Which positions are available?
- President
- Treasurer
- Vice President - Programs
- Vice President - Membership
- Vice President - Volunteers
- Vice President - Ways and Means
- Grade Level Coordinator
- and more...
Does it require a lot of time?
- We have several positions that are flexible. Many of them can be done during off-hours. Most of our current board are working parents.
What if I don't know what to do?
- You will! No one will be thrown into a position with zero guidance. Current board members are available to help transition to new board members, and Boggess PTA is lucky to have many volunteers with experience in different positions who can help. We are in this together.
I want to help, but I'm not sure which position is the right fit and I have more questions...
