Doyon News
Friday, February 6, 2026
Dear Doyon Families,
Happy Friday! We hope you’ve had a wonderful week. We were fortunate to enjoy warmer temperatures, allowing students to participate in a full week of focused learning, made even better with a dash of play in celebration of Global Play Day!
On Wednesday, students across all grade levels participated in our eighth annual Global Play Day. Teachers thoughtfully integrated play-based experiences into their current units of study, giving learners the opportunity to engage in play throughout the day while continuing to deepen their learning. Bravo, Doyon! Students demonstrated high levels of engagement and enthusiasm as they collaborated with peers in a variety of specially designed activities.
Next week, many classrooms are participating in Valentine's Day activities. If your child's classroom is participating in an exchange, please be sure to refrain from sending in candy or items that are otherwise not aligned with our Wellness Policy. Please see messages from classroom teachers for specific classroom experiences.
We would also like to extend a big Doyon thank you to Dr. Mooradian of Great Marsh Pediatric Dentistry for visiting our early childhood classrooms to share the importance of dental hygiene. Learners were engaged and excited, and they went home with goodie bags that included items to help them practice what they learned.
As a reminder, we will be hosting our Book Fair this coming week. Please take a moment to review the Library News below for more information. A special thank you to Ms. Hohenstein and Beverly Farms Bookstore for coordinating this meaningful event for our students and families.
As always, we are here for you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything.
Warmly,
Mr. Whitehouse-Mullen & Mrs. Benincasa
Student Leadership Team (SLT)
Our next Student Leadership Team Meeting (SLT) is Wednesday, February 11. Please send your child with an appropriate dismissal note or use "School Dismissal Manager". Students without proper arrangements will not be able to stay for the meeting or call home. Pick up will be promptly at 4:00 and be similar to the regular end-of-day dismissal. If you are picking up your child, please have their last name on a card, visible on your car's dashboard, and drive up to the front of the school. We will have someone outside reading off names so children are safely dismissed.

School Safety
Curious about school safety procedures? Take a peek at the documents displayed below. These documents are shared with students at the start of the school year by Detective Joe Perna, our School Resource Officer. The documents may serve as a guide to support families in discussing school safety. As always, please be in touch with questions around school safety at the Paul F. Doyon Memorial School.

Nurse's Notes
Hello Doyon Families!
It is cold- brrrrr! Students should dress in layers for the school day. Also, please send children to school with appropriate clothing to play outside as we try and get fresh air whenever possible! We do follow the Child Weather Watch chart which takes into account temperature and wind-chill to determine whether or not outdoor play is safe. That being said---ALL students should be wearing a coat outside at recess and please put the shorts away until spring. Please also send in cold weather gear including hats, mittens, snow pants and boots when needed. In addition, it is always a good idea to have your child have an extra pair of clothes-just in case!
I am always thankful for donations of snow pants and boots for the collection outside my door for kiddos that forget their gear. So if your child has outgrown anything, please feel free to drop it to me! I appreciate it !
