Dear AKChoice Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are excited to partner with you and your family for another year of learning, growth, and new opportunities. Whether you are returning to AKChoice or joining us for the first time, we are so glad you're here.

This year, we are especially excited to welcome all of our new families and students to the AKChoice community. We know that starting a new educational journey can be both exciting and overwhelming, and we look forward to getting to know each of you. We can't wait to build new relationships, support your family's educational goals, and create another outstanding year together.

Our advisors are also beginning to reach out to families to schedule Student Learning Plan Meetings. These meetings are an important opportunity to discuss your student's educational goals, review plans for the year, answer questions, and help ensure your family has everything needed for a successful school year. If you have not yet heard from your advisor, you can expect to be contacted soon.

As always, our staff is here to support your family's educational journey. We encourage you to stay connected by checking your email regularly and watching for updates throughout the year about workshops, field trips, activities, and other opportunities available through AKChoice.

We are looking forward to seeing familiar faces, meeting new friends, and partnering with all of our families for an incredible school year. Thank you for choosing AKChoice—we can't wait to see what this year has in store!

Families you may now begin submitting reimbursements in OLS for academic purchases. All reimbursements from now until the end of the school year must be submitted within 60 days of purchase. For reimbursement guidelines and expectations please review our HANDBOOK.

If you do not have access to OLS yet please watch the videos and complete the quiz to receive login information. OLS TRAINING

Helpful Reminders:

• All receipts must be in PDF format and legible.
• Proof of payment is required. This would be the last 4 of credit card, cancelled check, etc. W/O proof we will ask for bank statements.
• Direct Deposit will help expedite your reimbursement. Please return to kanack_ann@asdk12.org
• Non-Academic purchases over 250.00 require advisor or principal approval. Approval Form
• Winter Sport Related Activities will only be reimbursed in second semester (60-day rule does not apply)
• If you have questions about if your purchase is reimbursable, contact your advisor before making the purchase!
• Families MUST create and submit reimbursement form, outlined in the videos to receive reimbursement. Adding expenses alone will not generate a reimbursement.
• FOR EACH REIMBURSEMENT YOU MUST REENTER YOUR CHECK PAYABLE AND ADDRESS!

AKChoice continues to grow because of the incredible support of our families!

One of the best ways you can help our program is by sharing your experience with others. If AKChoice has made a positive impact on your family, we encourage you to spread the word by talking with friends, neighbors, and other homeschooling families. Personal recommendations are one of the most meaningful ways new families learn about our program.

If you're active in local homeschool Facebook groups or online communities, we'd also appreciate you sharing your experiences or recommending AKChoice when families are looking for educational options. Your firsthand perspective helps others better understand what makes our program unique.

Thank you for being ambassadors for AKChoice and for helping more families discover the opportunities our program offers. Together, we can continue building a strong, supportive community for homeschool families across Alaska.
