It's Almost Time!!!!

We are thrilled to welcome you back on Monday, August 10th! Behind the scenes, our team has been working diligently to prepare for an incredible school year ahead. As always, our goal is to be proactive rather than reactive—and that starts now!

We’re aiming to take care of all the important details before the first day of school, so that August 10th can truly be a fresh start: a day focused on building knowledge, forming friendships, and discovering new (or renewed) interests.

Beginning next week, we’re ready to help make that happen! Be sure to review all the updates and available services outlined in this newsletter—let’s get this show on the road!

Who to Contact at Wellington High School 🤔!!!

Who's Who at Wellington High School - Meet Your Support Team!!!

At Wellington High School, every student has a dedicated team of professionals here to support their journey and ensure their success!

We have four support teams ready to serve our Wolverines: 9th Grade, Big Blue, Greenview, and Southshore. Each team includes Assistant Principal(s), Dean(s), and two School Counselors who work together to guide and support students academically, socially, and emotionally.

Our 9th Grade Team has a few extra hands on deck to make sure our freshmen experience a smooth and successful transition into high school. After freshman year, students are assigned to a permanent team based on the first letter of their last name, where they will stay for the next three years to build consistent relationships and receive personalized support.

Take a look below to find your student’s team. Click on the chart below to view our full WHS Organizational Chart and contact information for each team member!

We’re here for you—every step of the way! 💙

SY27 Student Class Schedules

Student schedules should be visible on the SIS portal beginning Monday, July 27th (the district was unable to give me a time).

In an effort to ensure stability and student success beginning on day 1, we will have face to face opportunities to adjust your schedules BEFORE school starts. Parents/guardians are welcome to attend with their student.

Please review the chart below to determine when you may come to discuss schedule adjustments with your counselor or administrator. We ask that you stick to this schedule so that EVERYONE can have equal opportunity. The dates and times are assigned based on your grade level and/or first letter of your last name. If you are unable to come on the date noted, you may attend on one of the make up days.

Reasons for schedule adjustments include:

Missing a class needed for graduation
Missing a class needed to fulfill Academy requirements
A Gap in your schedule, missing a period
Parent and Student Request to take a more rigorous class (Honors, AICE, AP)
Parent and Student Request to take a less rigorous class

**Teacher & Lunch changes are not an acceptable excuse for a schedule change. You will be turned away.**

Executive Internship, Vol Pub Serv, Part Time Dual Enrollment and Senior Privilege students MUST have the parent notary form on file in order to participate in these classes. Please come prepared if you wish to leave school early or arrive late!!!

***There will be no schedule changes for the first 2 weeks of school unless you are missing a course or you have a gap in your schedule as counselor time will be focused on new registrations. Please take advantage of this opportunity so we can have a smooth beginning of the school year.

Register Your Ride!!! 🚌

As many of you know, due to limited entrances to WHS on one road, traffic gets pretty heavy before and after school! In an effort to get to school on time and ready to learn with less stress, we recommend that you ride the bus if you live more than 2 miles from WHS! Registration is OPEN for anyone wishing to ride the bus. Even if you think you MAY ride it and you're not sure, please register anyway! The district determines how many buses they will need and route adjustments based on the number of students and families that register!!

Detailed instructions can be accessed on the Transportation website.

THIS IS NOT REQUIRED FOR ESE STUDENTS NEEDING SPECIALIZED TRANSPORTATION.

New Student/Parent Orientation & Freshman Invasion!!

We have 2 orientations here at WHS, 1 for families and 1 for ONLY students!

Wednesday, August 5 from 5:30pm-8:00pm is new student and family orientation... beginning with entertainment from our band, dance team, cheerleaders, etc, followed by informational sessions from WHS Administration, School Police, Counselors, Student Leaders, PTSO, etc regarding policies, procedures, safety, security, curriculum, counseling, activities, upcoming events and anything else you might want to learn about. Plenty of knowledgeable staff will be available for Q&A following the presentation!

Thursday, August 6 from 8:00am-12:00pm will be our Famous Freshman Invasion where our Junior and Senior Link Crew Leaders from all facets of WHS mentor and guide our incoming freshmen through a day in the life of a Wellington Wolverine from collaboration and icebreaking activities to campus tours, athletic/club information, and assignments of mentors for the year! This session is for students only.

Student Health!! 🩺

Our school nurse, Safina Bansee, RN, will return to Wellington High School on Tuesday, August 4th! Please check out the "Parent's Guide to Medications at School" for your planning purposes. Additionally, I've included a one pager to help decide when to keep your student home from school due to illness!

Please keep in mind that School Health Personnel are not allowed to treat any students without verifying written Health Services consent from your most recent registration document, except in the event of a medical emergency.
