OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD UPDATE
The 2024 Outdoor Track & Field season is off to a strong start! The Boys Varsity finished in second place at the 17th Pikesville Track Classic led by gold medal finishes from Kieran Mischke in the 3200m run and the 4x800m relay team of Kieran Mischke, Evan Cline, Trent Raffaelli, and Hunter Parsons, and currently posts a 15-4 league meet record. The JV Boys have used a balanced attack of sprinters, distance runners, and field events to run to a 3-2 record so far. Sprinter Davina Oyefusi, distance runner Alex Lohse, and throws specialist Catherine Connolly have led the Varsity Girls to a 14-5 record, including a 7th place finish at PTC and 16th place at the inaugural Towson University Classic Invitational. The JV Girls are currently dominating county competition with a 4-1 record. But the brightest spot in the season so far has been the emergence of the General Pole Vaulters, Apia and Simon To’oto’o, Rowan Gorkos, Spencer Parsons, Pheobe Miller, and Katherine Lohse, who are setting PRs jumping into brand new mats (purchased this season by the Towson High Sports Boosters) under the watchful guidance of Coach Gerard Filosa. Next week (4/25-27) the Varsities will send two teams each to the 128th Penn Relay Carnival in Philadelphia. Look for big things in the second half of the season. Go Generals!
