Weekly Parent Newsletter (Week 11)

Otsego High SchoolWeekly Parent Newsletter (Week 11)

From the Desk of Mr. O'Shea From the Desk of Mr. O'Shea

Thank you to all the parents that participated in parent teacher conferences this week. We enjoy working with you to support your children and when there is a team approach it benefits us all. I was glad to see so many parents these past couple days. I know that many of you may have had conflict or couldn't attend conferences and I just ask that you reach out to your children's teacher either through email or by calling to touch base with them.

There will be NO school on Friday November 4th. Students enjoy you long weekend. Next week is our NHS Induction Ceremony, Fall Sports Awards Banquet, Family Knight, and Veterans Day Program. More information about all of this and more as you scroll down.

Safe Driving Assembly

The High School will be having a student assembly on safe and responsible driving. The assembly will be held November 16th in the afternoon for all high school students. This is being led by our resource officer Deputy Brian Ruckstuhl and local rescue agencies as well as a few families in the area that have dealt with auto related accidents.

We will also be having an adult assembly that evening on the 16th to discuss our student drivers and discussing ways to help better educate our students and report reckless driving. That time will be announced later but plan on sometime between 5pm and 7pm. We would like to get as many families and community members to attend as possible. This meeting we hope would last no longer than an hour. The start time will be announced at a later time.

2nd Annual Otsego Family Knight

This coming Thursday November 10th is our 2nd annual District Family Knight. This means we are shutting the place down. No practices, No homework, Nothing due the next day. It is a night for you as a family to spend some time together and just be a family. The buildings will shut down shortly after school is out.

Make dinner, eat out, play games, see a movie, go bowling, do whatever you want but most importantly enjoy some time together.

All sessions will be free to the community and will be held in the Otsego High School Auditorium.

Our first event will be led by Scott Grant, Founder of Triple Threat Leadership, LLC. and centered around personal branding, positive social media strategy, college preparation, and the full life cycle from high school, to college, to professional life.

Scott will be presenting to high school students during the day on the 21st . We will be deciding then if we bring him back to talk to our junior high students. The parent session will benefit all parents. We are encouraging every parent in the Otsego District to attend this session.

Spirit Wear Order Form

The Business Club has put together a spirit wear order form through Team Sports .

All profits raised through the sale of spirit wear will go towards scholarships at the end of the year from the Business Department.

Link to the Spirit Wear Order From - The Deadline is November 13th. So Hurry.

Grades/Eligibility

Every Wednesday, ALL sports will wait until 3:00pm to start their practices. This will allow for students to seek out teachers after school for help with their school work and not feel as rushed to get out to practice as well as allow our athletes to possibly get involved in other clubs and organizations which will be allowed to meet after school during this time. Athletic teams may hold study tables after school on Wednesdays until 3:00pm.

The Athletics Department will also begin running a weekly eligibility list identifying all athletes that have either a "D" or "F" in a class and notify coaches and players. Coaches will be expected to work with their athletes to get these kids off the eligibility list.

Communication/Updates

‘Otsego Athletics’ is on Twitter and Facebook. Follow for high school scores and other athletic department information.
