August 8, 2025Message From Principal | IB Head of School, Mrs. Fox
Greetings Franklin Academy families,

***Ensure you review the entire newsletter as we have many updates and information to share out.

Here we go...school starts on Monday (August 11th)! It was great seeing everyone for Meet & Greets this week. If you didn't make it, you can still come by today to pick up your placard to ensure you aren't held up at dismissal. We will also be on campus tomorrow, Saturday the 9th from 8:30-2:30 for you to pick up placards as well.

Parents/Guardians...please review your 'homework' below.

At this time, each family needs to log into your PowerSchool portal and click on the student forms link to complete the Way Home Form for each child. Please note, choose BUS if you've received approval from Maranata. Note that if you choose walk/bike, these requests will be approved one-by-one to ensure criteria is met. K-5 students may be picked up by a WALKING/BIKING adult IF the home address is zero-two miles from campus. MYP students can walk home on their own (with elementary siblings, if applicable) IF the home address is zero-two miles from campus.

For families that have an approved bus pass for Maranata for students in grades 3rd-5th, if you'd like for your child to exit the bus and walk home on their own, you'll need to complete the BUS STOP WAIVER (3rd-5th Grade) form on your PowerSchool portal.

All families will receive the 25-26 Code of Conduct Acknowledgement Form that must be completed and returned it to the teacher. Forms will come home on 8/11 and will be due on 8/15.

All families will receive the Dental Seals Forms, if you would like for your child to participate in this service on campus, you must complete the form and return it to the teacher. Forms will come home on 8/11 and will be due on 8/15.

As per state mandate, ALL families must complete a quick Parent/Guardian Consent for Health Services Form 2025-2026. This ensures we have your consent on mandated grade level health screenings and visiting the clinic for care by the nurse.

Below you will see a section on HEART-Student Housing Questionnaire, each family is encouraged to complete; if criteria is met, there are benefits and services your family may qualify for.

A few updates to share...

Do you have FEES on your child's account? Visit your PowerSchool portal to clear fees; if you have found any library books, please return them ASAP in order to have those fees removed.

Basketball Cover: we are in the process of waiting on different permits from the city and the county, as we receive updates, we'll share out. Our latest update on delivery of supplies is mid-September.

The National School Lunch Program is now accepting applications for our 2025-2026 year. ALL families are encouraged to apply to receive additional breakfast/lunch meals for free or at a reduced rate, if you meet the guidelines. See link below to apply NOW!

Incoming Kinder and Year 2 (7th Graders) will need their updated immunization forms in order to start school by 8/11. Please check the IMMUNIZATION section of our website! https://cc.franklin-academy.org/school-info

Will your child (grades 5th-8th) be participating in any of our sports this school year? If so, please make sure to complete the two forms below; you can drop them off at Business Day or the first week of school. There are five weeks before school starts to get those physical checks completed.

____________________________________

Dear Franklin Academy Families,

As part of our ongoing commitment to student data privacy and account security, we are implementing a system-wide reset of all student login credentials for the 2025–2026 school year.

What You Need to Know:

  • Password Reset Date: All returning student passwords will be reset on or about Monday, July 28.
  • Why This Is Happening: Our school system experiences daily cyberattack attempts targeting student accounts. Resetting passwords annually is a key measure in strengthening our cybersecurity posture and protecting your child's personal information.
  • How to Access the New Credentials: Once passwords have been updated, families will receive a notification via email and text. Updated login credentials will be available in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
  • Clever Badge Updates: For students who use Clever badges (typically in elementary grades), all current badges will be deactivated as part of this security update. New badges will be issued by your child’s teacher during the first week of school.

We appreciate your cooperation as we continue to enhance the safety and security of our digital learning environment. If you have questions or need assistance accessing the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please contact your school’s front office.

Thank you for your continued support.
