Dear CJHS Community,
We hope that you are enjoying the cold and non snowy weather this 3 day weekend!
As a former history teacher I can't pass up the opportunity to also mention the reason for our day off on Monday. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is one of my favorite people to discuss (although my staff and students know that Teddy Roosevelt is my FAVORITE). While most of our students and community remember his "I have a dream speech", my favorite speech was from the day before he was assassinated. If you're interested I highly recommend looking it up! It's called, "I've Been to the Mountaintop." In addition I find it fitting that we will inaugurate our 47th President - Donald Trump! I sure hope our students will be watching this event! Each inauguration is historical and important! (and...who are you rooting for? Ohio State or Notre Dame? I'm a lifelong Fighting Irish fan from afar!!)
January is School Board Appreciation Month! We are so thankful for the men and women who volunteer their time to ensure that Childress ISD is an amazing school district striving to become better and recognizing the beauty within our community!
