We had a successful start to our year with an Open House for all students in Grades 1-4 on August 27th. We had a fantastic turnout from students and families. Children had the opportunity to meet their teacher, drop off supplies, and become familiar with their new classroom. The kindergarten Orientation included a presentation for parents by Dr. Orlando, student visits to the classrooms to meet their new teacher and classmates, and a short bus ride.

Students SLIDE into Kindergarten! Students SLIDE into Kindergarten!

Kindergarten students in Mrs. McHugh's class had the opportunity to SLIDE into kindergarten their first day of school at Albert Schweitzer! Students couldn't wait to take that first step and enter their classroom. What an exciting way to begin their learning journey at our school.

School Entrance Procedures School Entrance Procedures

Visitation of parents is encouraged and always welcomed. However, we do ask that prior arrangements be made before visiting the classrooms. In addition, we are sure you will agree that the security of the building and the safety of our students are paramount to all of us.

Upon entering the building, all visitors must register at the Kiosk with their valid driver's license in the entrance of the school for any business that you may have in our building, e.g., signing in late students, dropping off items, parent meetings, etc. After registering at the Kiosk, please proceed directly to the front office to sign in and obtain a visitor’s pass. This pass must be worn in a prominent place at all times while in the building. At the end of the visit, please return to the office, sign out and return the pass.

We value the health, safety, and welfare of our students, therefore at no time should parents or visitors enter the school building and go directly to their child's classroom or any other area of the building. In an effort to protect our students, all staff members will be required to ask anyone they see in the building for the visitor's badge. Staff members will respectfully direct any person without a badge to the front office.

Title I: Right to Request Teacher Qualifications Title I: Right to Request Teacher Qualifications

As a parent of a student attending a school that is receiving Federal Title I dollars, you have the right to know the professional qualifications of the teacher(s) and instructional paraprofessional(s) who instruct your child.

Federal law requires every Title I school district to comply and to provide you with the requested information in a timely manner. We are happy to provide this information to you. At any time, you may ask:

  • Whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teaching,

  • Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived, and

  • What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds, including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and major(s) or area(s) of concentration.

You may also ask whether your child receives help from a paraprofessional. If your child receives this assistance, we can provide you with information about the paraprofessional's qualifications. Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) which was signed into law in December 2015 and reauthorizes the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1956 (ESEA) includes additionally right to know requests. At any time, parents and family members can request:

  • Information on policies regarding student participation in assessments and procedures for opting out, and

  • Information on required assessments that include:

  • subject matter tested,

  • purpose of the test,

  • source of the requirement (if applicable),

  • amount of time it takes students to complete the test, and

  • time and format of disseminating results.

Our staff is committed to helping your child develop the academic knowledge and critical thinking he/she needs to succeed in school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure that all of our teachers and paraprofessionals meet applicable Pennsylvania state requirements. We look forward to the upcoming school year, and together we will make a difference in your child's life.

Annual Pest Management Notification Annual Pest Management Notification

In accordance with Board Policy 716, annually the Neshaminy School District notifies employees and families that the NSD engages with an outside contractor to provide Pest Management Services throughout the District in accordance with the Pest Management Plan for Pennsylvania Schools. The purpose of this plan is to summarize response actions, findings and recommend response actions. If you have any questions regarding the District’s pest management program, please call the Operations Department at 215-809-6250.

Student Accident Insurance Student Accident Insurance

Neshaminy School District is pleased to offer a discounted accident insurance plan for our students. The coverage is excellent and the cost is only $27 for school-time or $98 for 24-hour full-year protection. This is the same cost as 2018-2019 plan. The company is AXIS Insurance Company, and its agent is Alive Risk of Langhorne, 215-946-8888. Many parents do not appreciate the importance of such insurance until accidents occur and medical bills are presented for payment. Please note that the district DOES NOT carry medical insurance on students.
