Dear Lakeside Families-

Thank you for your continued help as we start the school year off so well! We have so much to be proud of so far this school year.

Engagement is one of our ISEE values, and it means being curious, participating, and being an active part of our school community. We want every student to feel that their voice matters and that they have an important role to play in their learning and in our school. Check out this week’s ISEE video to learn more about what Engagement looks like at Lakeside: The Lakeside Way|Engagement

Conferences are a great opportunity to connect! We look forward to welcoming families to Lakeside on Wednesday, October 8, from 3:15–6:30 PM. These conversations give families and teachers an opportunity to celebrate student growth, share important information, and work together to support each child. We value the partnership between home and school and hope to see you there!

Finally, we would love to see more families connected to our PTO and other Lakeside organizations. These groups provide great opportunities to support our students, connect with other families, and help make special experiences happen throughout the school year. There are many ways to get involved, and we encourage you to find an opportunity that works for you. Your engagement helps make Lakeside a stronger school community!

Make it a great day.

Mr. King, Principal

A Note From The Health Office A Note From The Health Office

Hello Lakeside Families-

The cold and flu season is upon us!

Please remind your child to cover their mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, and most importantly...WASH HANDS!!! Washing hands can prevent the spread of diseases.

Just as a reminder your child should stay home if they have any of these symptoms: 100 degree temp or higher, vomiting, diarrhea, thick mucus from the nose, excessive drowsiness, undiagnosed rash or open sores, pain that interferes with learning such as; earache, red, itchy eyes with discharge, sore throat with difficulty swallowing or a persistent, productive cough. This helps prevent the spread of illness to others in school. If you child has any of these symptoms they should stay home and be free from symptoms for 24 hours before returning to school.

FRIENDLY REMINDER: When calling your child's school to report their absence, please relay the symptoms they are having to the school office so that the District can continue to track illness in the school and within classrooms.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our Health Assistant/ LPN Mrs. Jesaca Schaefer regarding your child’s health needs. She can be reached at our health office at 424-0131 ext: 3855.

Thank you,

Attendance Office Information Attendance Office Information

Every school day is a vital opportunity for your child to learn, grow, and build academic confidence. When your elementary student is in class, they engage in essential lessons and develop crucial social skills alongside their peers. Consistent attendance helps establish a predictable routine, allowing them to feel secure and successful in their learning environment. . Your support in ensuring they arrive on time every day is a powerful investment in their future, setting them up for long-term achievements. Please note that to ensure all students stay on track, a letter of concern will be sent out when a student misses 8 days of school. We appreciate your partnership in making daily school attendance a top priority.

All reports of a student absence must go through the school office. If your child(ren) are sick for multiple days, please notify us each day they are absent.

All communication regarding your student’s attendance—including appointments, late arrivals, or early departures—must be sent to the office. You may copy your child’s teacher on the message, and the office will also ensure that attendance information is shared with the classroom teacher.

To avoid an unexcused absence, all student absences must be reported to the main office at
920-424-0131. If you leave a voicemail, be sure to include your student’s full name, grade, reason for absence, and any symptoms they may be experiencing. You may also report absences by emailing the school secretary at: kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us.

Infinite Campus (IC) Portal:
You can submit preplanned absence requests online through Infinite Campus. In IC, go to More > Absence Request. Please be sure to fill out all fields completely so we can accurately mark your student’s attendance.

If you need to pick up your student early for any reason, please notify the main office ahead of time. We kindly ask that you allow a minimum of 1 hour notice if your student needs to leave the building early so we have enough time to locate and prepare your student.

As always, please feel free to reach out to the main office with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your help and cooperation!

Arrival Procedures Arrival Procedures

Due to the location of Lakeside being on a major highway, children are not allowed to walk or ride bikes to school.

Parents are encouraged to have their children ride the bus to ensure they will arrive at the same time as the other students. Buses will unload on the east side of the building for arrival and dismissal. Buses will be unloaded at Lakeside at 7:15 a.m. by a recess supervisor. Upon arrival at school, children will go to the playground. After school, buses will be loaded by 2:50 p.m.

When dropping off students at Lakeside, please drive in the north entrance. Park in a space along the north side (facing the building) near Door #10 and walk your child to the supervisor near the playground. Adults are not allowed on the playground unless they have checked into the office and are wearing a badge.

Dismissal Procedures Dismissal Procedures

Busing is the way most Lakeside students get home at the end of the day. If you want to pick up your child(ren), please park in a stall, facing the school; exit your vehicle and notify the staff outside who you are picking up. Students in grades K-3 will exit through Door #11. Students in grades 4-5 will exit through Door #10.

If a child is not picked up by 2:50 p.m., we will make a phone call home or to an emergency contact.

A phone call to the secretary or an email to the secretary and teacher is necessary if:
● Your child’s normal after school plan is changing
● Your child is being picked up by another parent
● Your child is being picked up by someone other than their parent
● Your child is planning to ride another bus
● Your child is staying for an afterschool activity

*Telling your child is not sufficient. You must provide written notification or contact the office preferably before noon or as soon as possible so the proper individuals may be made aware of the special plans.

🛫 Vacation & Pre-Planned Absences

Planning a family vacation or extended time away from school? Please be sure to notify the school office in advance! Students have important learning and assessments throughout the year, and advance notice allows teachers to plan accordingly and share any work that may need to be completed prior to the absence.

To help us best support your child, please complete a Pre-Planned Absence Form before your trip.

📝 Pre-Planned Absence Form Can Be Found: HERE

Thank you for helping us keep learning on track—even when students are away!

All verified backgrounds checks are good for three years, and are effective for all OASD schools. If you have any questions about this process, please contact our school office at 920.424.0131 or kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us

Important!: Once you have completed your application, let the office know so that we can request that the application be processed; this does not happen automatically, and can take up to 3-4 business days, so please plan accordingly!
