Principal's Newsletter: December

Dear Families and Community,

December is always such a joyful month on campus, filled with excitement, celebrations, and opportunities to come together. As we wrap up the calendar year, we appreciate your partnership in helping our students learn, grow, and model our core expectations. This month, we are continuing to focus on “Be Responsible.” Thank you for reinforcing this at home by encouraging students to make good choices, take ownership of their learning, and treat others with care.

Parking Lot Reminders – Help Us Keep Everyone Safe

One of the most important ways families can “Be Responsible” is by following our drop-off and pick-up procedures. Please pull forward, stay in designated areas, and avoid parking or stopping in the red zones. Your cooperation helps keep the process safe, efficient, and stress-free for all.

Penguin Patch Holiday Shop (12/8–12/12)

We’re excited to welcome back the Penguin Patch! Students will have the chance to purchase small, inexpensive gifts for family and friends. It’s a fun way for students to practice responsibility, budgeting, and kindness during the holiday season.

FREE PTA Movie Night – Ice Age

Thursday, 12/12 at 6:00 PM in the MPR
Bring the whole family for a cozy, free movie night hosted by our wonderful PTA. Wear something comfy, bring a blanket if you’d like, and enjoy Ice Age together. Concessions will be available for purchase. We hope to see you there!

Holiday Spirit Week (12/15–12/19)

Our Student Council is spreading cheer with Holiday Spirit Week (flyer below)! It’s a fun tradition that brings the whole school together with creativity and smiles.

Winter Break (12/22–1/2)

School will be closed for Winter Break from December 22 through January 2. We wish all of our students and families a restful, safe, and joyful holiday season. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday, January 5.

Thank you for your ongoing support and for being such an important part of our school community. December is a short but magical month, and we’re grateful to spend it learning and celebrating with your children.

Warmly,

Andrea Tapia

Giving Tree

As we enter the holiday season, we are excited to continue our tradition of supporting Altamont Creek families through our Giving Tree. Each year, our community comes together to help make the season a little brighter for those who may need extra support—and we are grateful for your kindness and generosity.

If you are able, we invite you to contribute a donation to our Giving Tree.

All donations can be dropped off in the office now through December 15th. If you would prefer to donate a gift card or make a confidential contribution, feel free to hand it directly to the office staff.

Thank you for helping us spread joy and support our school community this holiday season. Your generosity makes a meaningful difference.

We’re excited to share that our Garden Club is growing! Each class will have the opportunity to meet monthly with our lead volunteer to learn and work in the garden. We’re looking for additional volunteers to help support these class garden sessions — either with your child’s class or any class that fits your schedule. All volunteers must be cleared through the district.

Shop with a Cop

Now in its 11th year, Livermore police officers and our local schools are once again teaming up for the Shop With a Cop program—an annual effort that brings holiday joy to students and families in need across all Livermore schools.

Each year, students from every school in our district are nominated to participate and paired with officers for a special morning of shopping, smiles, and connection. This experience is made possible almost entirely through donations from our community.

To ensure every nominated student can participate, we are asking for your support. Donations of any amount go directly toward helping Livermore students experience the magic of the season.

Donate to Shop With a Cop 2025

Your generosity makes a real difference—helping brighten the holidays for children throughout our district and keeping alive the spirit of kindness and community that defines Livermore.
