School Lockdown Drill October 26th

Dear Groveland Families,

As part of our ongoing commitment to school safety, Groveland will conduct a lockdown drill on Monday, October 26. This planned drill allows students and staff to practice our Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and become familiar with the procedures we would use during an emergency.

A lockdown is used when a potential threat exists inside the building. During the drill, classroom doors will be locked, lights will be turned off, and students and staff will move out of sight. The drill will begin with an announcement clearly letting everyone know that this is a drill and not an actual emergency.

The Standard Response Protocol uses five common safety actions: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, and Shelter. Staff members are trained in these procedures and will review the lockdown process with students in an age-appropriate way. Our focus with students will be simple: remain calm, listen carefully, and follow the directions of the adults around them.

Local law enforcement will be notified of the drill and may be present as part of our safety preparation.

We appreciate your partnership as we continue working to provide a safe and secure learning environment for our Groveland Grizzlies. Please reach out with any questions.

Sincerely,
Mike Testani & Heather McAteer
