Information About Important Student & Staff Educational Trainings
Central Jr/Sr High School Families,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you about an important trainings that students are participating in as part of our commitment to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment.
Prior to spring break, we hosted a speaker, Chet Kuplen, from Sports in Kansas on the topid - "Think Before You Post". This powerful training included topics such as cyberbullying, online criminal activity, digital citizenship, social media etiquette, online reputation, and more.
Last week and this upcoming week, all students and staff are receiving training focused on understanding, preventing, and responding to harassment, sexual harassment, and bullying. This training is aligned with district policies and state guidelines, and is designed to empower students and staff with knowledge about their rights, responsibilities, and the resources available to them.
The goals of this training are to:
-
Educate about what constitutes/definitions of harassment, sexual harassment, and bullying.
-
Promote respectful behavior and empathy.
-
Encourage students to speak up and report concerning behavior.
-
Ensure all students know how to access support from trusted adults and school staff.
We understand these topics are sensitive and may prompt questions or concerns. Our trained staff are leading these sessions in a thoughtful and age-appropriate manner. If you would like more information about the content of the training or wish to discuss any concerns, please do not hesitate to email me at jhenning@usd462.org.
We encourage you to speak with your student about the trainings and continue the educational conversation at home. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students.
- Mrs. Henning
