Meadowview Families,

WOW! Thanks to your incredible generosity and support, our PTP fundraiser raised an amazing $30,103! We are so grateful for the contributions of our families and community members who continue to make Meadowview such a special place for our students.

Our Tiger Trot Field Day was another wonderful highlight! It was a fun-filled day of excitement, school spirit, and community connection. A heartfelt thank you to our PTP, volunteers, and everyone who helped make the day such a success!

Many of our students are getting very excited about their plans to celebrate Halloween next weekend. We hope that everyone who participates in the upcoming Halloween events stays safe and has lots of fun!

During the school day next Friday, students will not need to bring or wear their costumes. While some grade levels have fun fall events planned, they will not include costume parties or parades. However, students are encouraged to wear orange & black on Friday to show their Halloween and/or Tiger Spirit if they'd like!

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.

Have a great weekend!

Reading Fluency

What is Reading Fluency?

A common misconception is that fluency means reading as fast as possible, but fluent reading is not speed reading. Real fluency means reading accurately, at an appropriate conversational pace, and with expression that sounds like natural talking. When reading mirrors spoken language, it frees up your child's brain to understand and enjoy what they read.

When reading a book with your child, these are some simple ways to practice fluency:

  1. Focus on Accuracy First (not speed) - Accuracy is the foundation of reading fluency. Celebrate reading the words correctly before thinking about pace. If your child rushes or races through text, gently remind them: “That was fast reading, but reading isn’t a race - read it nicely so it sounds like you’re talking.”

  2. Try “Repeated Reading” - Have your child read the same short paragraph or page 3 to 4 times across a few days. Re-reading a familiar text builds word recognition, boosts confidence, and helps them move from word-by-word reading to smooth phrasing.

  3. Practice Paired Reading - If a text feels challenging, read aloud together side-by-side. You can point to the text as you read, letting your child read along with your voice. Hearing your phrasing and expression gives them a helpful model to follow.

  4. Always Chat About the Story - The ultimate goal of fluency is comprehension - making sense of the story. Take quick breaks while reading to ask open questions like “What do you think will happen next?” or “ How would you describe that character?”

Remember: Home reading practice should feel low-stress and encouraging. Just 5 to 10 minutes of shared reading a day helps build confidence, comprehension, and a love for reading!

Late Arrivals

Students arriving after the 7:40 bell will need to be signed in at the office by a parent or guardian. This is very important with our new secured entrance to ensure that all students get into the building safely. If you know in advance that your child will be late due to a pre-arranged appointment, please call the attendance line at 651-460-3105 or submit the late arrival on our attendance form prior to 7:00 am on the day of the late arrival.

Attendance is an important part of your child’s education. For more info about routines to support positive attendance habits, please see the attached document from Dakota County. Attendance Works

Please note that the curb along the front of the building is a “No Parking” zone so our buses can load and unload without obstruction. Parents who choose to drop-off and pick-up their children on the east side of the building are asked to park their cars in the parking lot and walk their children to and from the building. Your child’s safety is our main priority.

End of Day Routine

Please make sure your child's teacher has an accurate, up-to-date plan for your child's dismissal at the end of the day.

When changes are needed, please communicate those changes with your child's teacher prior to the start of the school day. We cannot always guarantee teachers will see emails during the work day (as it depends on the activities they have planned with the students).

For EMERGENCY CHANGES, please communicate with the teacher and call the front office no later than 2pm. Changes to end of day routines are difficult for students and teachers. If at all possible please change YOUR routine instead of your students routine.

BPA Shoe Drive BPA Shoe Drive

Business Professionals of America is a high school club and we are partnering with Funds2Org, to collect shoes for a fundraiser. Funds 2 Org will pay BPA a small rate for each pound of shoes and bring them to shop owners in poor areas around the globe to provide jobs and income for families in poverty.

By contributing to the Shoe Drive you can clean out your closets of old used shoes and teach your learners about charity and recycling. The drive benefits BPA by paying for its club fees, it benefits the environment by giving shoes a second life, and benefits poor communities by bringing a source of income to those in need!
